Abstract
The covid-19 pandemic status has affected entire sectors of human life from economies, health infrastructure, to education. The rapid transmission of cases led to the adoption of long-distance learning (PJJ) in all schools, including elementary school. PJJ would give the elementary students a potential learning loss. On the other hand, a working mother who was accustomed to handing over educational matters to the school found it difficult to accompany PJJ at home. Thus, the research aims to identify the pattern of parenting done by the working mother in accompanying child remote learning (PJJ) at the time of the covid-19 pandemic. Studies conducted using case studies with qualitative descriptive research types. Researchers collected primary data by interviewing 5 informers who were all working mothers, and 1 family psychologists as source triangulation. Studies have shown that in communicating with children, mothers use equal communication patterns and monopoly communication patterns. Interpersonal messages is persuasive, with openness, empathy, and support being prominent qualities of interpersonal communication. Research also results in characteristics of a working mother's upbringing during the pandemic: the nurturing of over empathy, the survival of a life preserver, and supportive parenting. Ditetapkannya status pandemi pada Covid-19 oleh pemerintah mengubah semua lini kehidupan masyarakat, mulai dari perekonomian, infrastruktur kesehatan, hingga pendidikan. Penularan kasus yang begitu cepat membuat pemerintah memberlakukan Pembelajaran Jarak Jauh (PJJ) di semua jenjang sekolah, termasuk jenjang Sekolah Dasar. Pemberlakukan PJJ membuat anak Sekolah Dasar berpotensi mengalami learning loss. Di sisi lain, ibu pekerja yang terbiasa menyerahkan urusan pendidikan pada sekolah merasa kesulitan mendampingi PJJ anak di rumah. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pola komunikasi parenting yang dilakukan ibu pekerja dalam mendampingi pembelajaran jarak jauh (PJJ) anak di masa pandemi Covid-19. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode studi kasus dengan tipe penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Peneliti mengumpulkan data primer dengan mewawancarai 5 orang informan ibu pekerja, dan 1 orang psikolog keluarga sebagai triangulasi sumber. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan dalam berkomunikasi ibu menggunakan pola komunikasi setara dan pola komunikasi monopoli. Penyusunan pesan interpersonal bersifat persuasif, dengan keterbukaan, empati, dan suportif menjadi kualitas komunikasi interpersonal yang menonjol. Penelitian juga menemukan 3 karakteristik pengasuhan ibu pekerja di masa pandemi yakni pengasuhan over empati, pengasuhan pelampung penyelamat, dan pengasuhan suportif.
