Abstract
The human need for information has led to an increase in the development of technology and information. The Baduy community is one of the tribes in Indonesia that still maintains cultural values that are owned and believed to be in the midst of the times. Even though it is regulated by customary law, there is a group of Baduy people who are still open to technological developments, namely the Outer Baduy people, they use social media Facebook in their daily life. This study aims to determine the use of Facebook social media by the Outer Baduy Community in the village of Cikadu Kanekes. This study uses a constructivist paradigm, Alfred Schutz's social phenomenology method. The results showed that there were 3 community motives in utilizing Facebook, namely: profit motive, conformity motive, and existence motive and there were 2 (two) awareness of the Outer Baduy community in utilizing Facebook social media, namely visible awareness, and hidden awareness. The conclusion of the research shows that the use of social media Facebook for the Outer Baduy community can be interpreted as the Outer Baduy community has opened up to changing times and technological developments while still following customary rules. Keywords: Social Media, Phenomenology, Culture, Baduy Kebutuhan manusia terhadap informasi menyebabkan meningkatnya perkembangan teknologi dan informasi. Masyarakat baduy merupakan salah satu suku di Indonesia yang masih mempertahankan nilai-nilai budaya yang dimiliki dan diyakini ditengah perkembangan zaman. Meski diatur hukum adat, terdapat sekelompok masyarakat Baduy yang masih terbuka dengan perkembangan teknologi, yaitu masyarakat Baduy Luar, mereka menggunakan media sosial facebook dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Penelitian Ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pemanfaatan media sosial facebook oleh Masyarakat Baduy Luar di desa Cikadu Kanekes. Penelitian ini menggunakan paradigma konstruktivis, metode fenomenologi sosial Alfred Schutz. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa terdapat 3 motif masyarakat dalam memanfaatkan facebook, yaitu: profit motif, konformitas motif, dan eksistensi motif dan terdapat 2 (dua) kesadaran masyarakat Baduy Luar dalam memanfaatkan media sosial facebook, yaitu kesadaran yang tampak, dan kesadaran yang tersembunyi. Kesimpulan penelitian menunjukan pemanfaatan media sosial facebook bagi masyarakat Baduy Luar dapat dimaknai sebagai telah terbukanya masyarakat Baduy Luar terhadap perubahan zaman, dan perkembangan teknologi meski tetap mengikuti aturan adat.
