Abstract
Interpersonal communication in the family is very effective in supporting children's open attitudes to parents and can make the family more harmonious. This study refers to the interpersonal relationship between parents and children, there are five general qualities of interpersonal communication that are considered: openness, empathy, supportive attitude, positive attitude, and equality. This research is a qualitative research with descriptive qualitative methods. The subjects of this study were parents and children in the Usman Harun Indonesian Navy Complex. The results showed that there was no openness between parents and children, because children were hesitant to tell their complaints with their parents to the three subjects. Empathy creates space for the three subjects, it can be seen that the subject is noticed by parents in socializing and learning. Supporting Attitudes The three subjects support their children in a supportive way that continues to encourage and pay attention to their school values. Positive Attitude The three subjects have not realized well and can be seen from how parents who are too suspicious or maybe too alert because they are afraid that the child will fall into the association of negative things. Equality The three subjects have also not been realized, the three subjects too restrain the child so that the child cannot freely express himself and there is a position gap. Komunikasi interpersonal dalam keluarga sangat efektif dalam menunjang sikap terbuka anak terhadap orang tua dan dapat menjadikan keluarga lebih harmonis.Penelitian ini mengacu pada hubungan interpersonal antara orang tua dan anak, ada lima kualitas umum komunikasi interpersonal yang dipertimbangkan: keterbukaan, empati, sikap suportif, sikap positif, dan kesetaraan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah orang tua dan anak di Kompleks TNI AL Usman Harun. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada keterbukaan antara orang tua dan anak, karena anak ragu untuk menyampaikan keluhannya kepada orang tuanya kepada ketiga subjek tersebut. Empati menciptakan ruang bagi ketiga mata pelajaran tersebut, terlihat bahwa mata pelajaran diperhatikan oleh orang tua dalam bersosialisasi dan belajar. Sikap Mendukung Ketiga mata pelajaran mendukung anak-anaknya dengan cara yang suportif dengan terus mendorong dan memperhatikan nilai-nilai sekolahnya. Sikap Positif Ketiga subjek belum menyadari dengan baik dan terlihat dari bagaimana orang tua yang terlalu curiga atau mungkin terlalu waspada karena takut anaknya akan terjerumus ke dalam pergaulan hal-hal negatif. Kesetaraan Ketiga subjek juga belum terealisasi, ketiga subjek terlalu mengekang anak sehingga anak tidak bisa leluasa mengekspresikan dirinya dan terdapat celah posisi.
