Abstract
Documentary film is an audiovisual medium that presents facts and reality to provide information, education, and public understanding. One of the most important aspects of documentary filmmaking is cinematography, particularly camera shooting techniques, which play a significant role in strengthening visual storytelling. This applied final project aims to implement camera shooting techniques in the production of the documentary film Dari Ladang ke Cawan (From Farm to Cup), which documents the journey of Robusta coffee cultivated at Mount Sintok, Garut Regency, West Java, from cultivation to its final presentation to consumers. The production process was carried out through three stages: preproduction, production, and post-production. During production, the author served as the Camera Person, responsible for preparing the shot list, determining composition, selecting shot sizes, camera angles, and camera movements to effectively convey the documentary's narrative. The results indicate that the application of various cinematographic techniques, including Extreme Long Shot, Long Shot, Medium Shot, Medium Close Up, Close Up, Extreme Close Up, as well as eye level, high angle, low angle, and bird's-eye view camera angles, successfully produced informative and visually engaging scenes that supported the documentary's narrative flow. Despite challenges such as the absence of electrical access at the production site, autofocus failure on one of the rented lenses, and uneven plantation terrain that prevented the use of tripods and stabilizers, the production was successfully completed through careful preparation and appropriate camera shooting techniques. This documentary is expected to serve as an educational and informational medium about the journey of Robusta coffee while also becoming a reference for students in applying camera shooting techniques in documentary film production. Film dokumenter merupakan media audiovisual yang menyajikan fakta dan realitas untuk memberikan informasi, edukasi, serta pemahaman kepada masyarakat. Salah satu unsur penting dalam produksi film dokumenter adalah teknik pengambilan gambar yang berperan dalam memperkuat penyampaian pesan melalui visual. Tugas akhir aplikatif ini bertujuan menerapkan teknik pengambilan gambar dalam produksi film dokumenter Dari Ladang ke Cawan, yang mengangkat proses perjalanan kopi Robusta di Gunung Sintok, Kabupaten Garut, Jawa Barat, mulai dari budidaya hingga penyajian kepada konsumen. Metode yang digunakan dalam perancangan ini meliputi tiga tahapan produksi, yaitu pra-produksi, produksi, dan pascaproduksi. Pada proses produksi, penulis berperan sebagai Camera Person yang bertanggung jawab dalam menyusun shot list, menentukan komposisi, memilih ukuran shot, sudut pengambilan gambar (camera angle), serta pergerakan kamera untuk mendukung penyampaian cerita secara visual. Hasil perancangan menunjukkan bahwa penerapan variasi teknik pengambilan gambar, seperti Extreme Long Shot, Long Shot, Medium Shot, Medium Close Up, Close Up, Extreme Close Up, serta penggunaan sudut eye level, high angle, low angle, dan bird eye view, mampu menghasilkan visual yang informatif, menarik, dan mendukung alur narasi dokumenter. Meskipun terdapat kendala berupa keterbatasan akses listrik di lokasi produksi, kerusakan sistem autofocus pada salah satu lensa, serta kondisi medan perkebunan yang tidak memungkinkan penggunaan tripod maupun stabilizer, seluruh proses produksi dapat diselesaikan melalui persiapan peralatan yang matang dan penerapan teknik pengambilan gambar yang sesuai. Film dokumenter ini diharapkan dapat menjadi media informasi dan edukasi mengenai proses perjalanan kopi Robusta sekaligus menjadi referensi bagi mahasiswa dalam penerapan teknik pengambilan gambar pada produksi film dokumenter.
