Abstract
This study aims to analyze the effect of exposure to watching the film Jumbo (2025) on the perceptions of students of the Faculty of Communication Sciences (FIKOM), Mercu Buana University, class of 2022, regarding the issue of bullying. The film Jumbo (2025) is positioned as an audio-visual media stimulus that contains social messages and has the potential to influence audiences through psychological processes, as explained by the Stimulus-Organism-Response (S-OR) Theory. In this context, exposure to watching the film serves as the stimulus, students as the organism, and perceptions of bullying as the response, which includes cognitive, affective, and conative aspects. This research employs a quantitative explanatory approach using a survey method. The research sample consisted of 89 students selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using a closed-ended questionnaire and analyzed using Pearson correlation, simple linear regression, coefficient of determination (R²), and t-test with the assistance of SPSS software. The results show that both the level of exposure to watching the film Jumbo (2025) and students perceptions of bullying are in the high category. The correlation coefficient (R) of 0.935 indicates a very strong relationship between the two variables, while the coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.875 indicates that 87.5% of students perceptions are influenced by exposure to watching the film Jumbo (2025), with the remaining percentage influenced by other factors outside this study. The t-test results show a calculated t-value of 24.954, which is greater than the t-table value of 1.98761, indicating that the effect of exposure to watching the film on students perceptions is statistically significant. These findings confirm that the film Jumbo (2025) is effective as an educational medium in shaping students understanding, empathy, and anti-bullying attitudes, while also reinforcing the relevance of the S-O-R Theory in explaining the influence of media on changes in audience attitudes. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh terpaan menonton film Jumbo (2025) terhadap persepsi mahasiswa FIKOM Universitas Mercu Buana angkatan 2022 mengenai isu perundungan. Film Jumbo (2025) diposisikan sebagai stimulus media audio-visual yang mengandung pesan sosial dan berpotensi memengaruhi audiens melalui proses psikologis, sebagaimana dijelaskan dalam Teori Stimulus-Organism-Response (S-O-R). Dalam konteks ini, terpaan menonton film berperan sebagai stimulus, mahasiswa sebagai organisme, dan persepsi terhadap perundungan sebagai respons yang mencakup aspek kognitif, afektif, dan konatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif eksplanatif dengan metode survei. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 89 mahasiswa yang dipilih menggunakan teknik simple random sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui kuesioner tertutup, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan uji korelasi Pearson, regresi linier sederhana, koefisien determinasi (R²), dan uji t dengan bantuan program SPSS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat terpaan menonton film Jumbo (2025) dan persepsi mahasiswa terhadap isu perundungan berada pada kategori tinggi. Nilai koefisien korelasi (R) sebesar 0,935 menunjukkan hubungan yang sangat kuat antara kedua variabel, sedangkan nilai koefisien determinasi (R²) sebesar 0,875 mengindikasikan bahwa 87,5% persepsi mahasiswa dipengaruhi oleh terpaan menonton film Jumbo (2025), sementara sisanya dipengaruhi oleh faktor lain di luar penelitian. Hasil uji t menunjukkan nilai t hitung sebesar 24,954 lebih besar dari t tabel 1,98761, sehingga pengaruh terpaan menonton film terhadap persepsi mahasiswa dinyatakan signifikan. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa film Jumbo (2025) efektif sebagai media edukatif yang mampu membentuk pemahaman, empati, dan sikap anti perundungan mahasiswa, serta memperkuat relevansi Teori S-O-R dalam menjelaskan pengaruh media terhadap perubahan sikap audiens.
