Abstract
This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between self efficacy and public speaking anxiety to students of University of X in West Jakarta. Sampling was done by quota sampling technique with a total of 380 students from all faculties of University X in West Jakarta. The measurement tool in this study is the scale of self efficacy that is compiled based on the dimensions of self efficacy proposed by Bandura (1997) and the scale of public speaking anxiety which is a unidimensional measurement tool proposed by McCrosky (1970). Each scale has a reliability of 0.833 on a self efficacy scale and 0.941 on the scale of anxiety in public speaking. The results obtained showed the correlation coefficient between variables r = -0.601 > 0.05 with a significance of 0,000 which showed there was a negative relationship between self efficacy and public speaking anxiety. Penelitian ini betujuan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat hubungan antara self efficacy dengan kecemasan berbicara di depan umum pada mahasiswa Universitas X di Jakarta Barat. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik sampling kuota dengan jumlah subjek sebanyak 380 orang mahasiswa dari seluruh fakultas Universitas X di Jakarta Barat. Alat ukur pada penelitian ini adalah skala self efficacy yang disusun berdasarkan dimensi self efficacy yang dikemukakan oleh Bandura (1997) dan skala kecemasan berbicara di depan umum yang merupakan alat ukur unidimensional yang dikemukakan oleh McCrosky (1970). Masingmasing skala memiliki reliabilitas sebesar 0,833 pada skala self efficacy dan 0,941 pada skala kecemasan berbicara di depan umum. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh menunjukan koefesiensi korelasi antar variabel r = -0,601 > 0,05 dengan signifikan sebesar 0,000 yang menunjukan terdapat hubungan yang negatif antara self efficacy dengan kecemasan berbicara di depan umum.
