Abstract

Research results obtained by the global gaming industry research institute, Newzoo, show an interesting fact that the Indonesian gaming market has around 43.7 million gamers and has the potential to generate revenues of up to US $ 880 million (around Rp. 11.9 trillion) for the industry in 2017. This potential ranks Indonesia 16th in the list of the world's largest game industries. EMAGO is a cloud-based platform that is designed to make it easier for gamers to play online games, the result of the development of Digital Amoeba owned by PT Telkom Indonesia, tbk. As the first cloud-based game provider company in Indonesia, EMAGO has succeeded in attracting the attention of more than 1000 customers, and requires marketing public relations efforts to introduce the company more widely to the public. The internet is now the dominant media for advertising, advertising based on search engines, to rich media. The internet is a popular advertising medium among ad planner practitioners because of its speed and ease in sending messages, advertising messages delivered through internet media are also more flexible and can be updated more easily when compared to other media. This research uses a qualitative approach. This type of research used in this research is a case study where researchers try to find out how the EMAGO process is in building brand awareness through Instagram social media. After the researchers conducted interviews with the three speakers who were EMAGO themselves and two gamers who had used products from EMAGO, the authors found that the marketing communication strategy carried out through Instagram, was the right step. Through the informant's statement, the researcher obtained information that the benefits offered by EMAGO through cloud gaming mechanism made it easier for gamers to play many games without worrying about the specs of PCs and laptops that were owned, had been received by the speakers and experienced directly through personal experience. Kata Kunci: Brand Awareness, Media Social, Instagram, Game, Cloud Gaming Hasil penelitian yang didapat lembaga riset industri game global, Newzoo, menunjukan fakta menarik bahwa pasar game Indonesia memiliki sekitar 43,7 juta gamer dan berpotensi menghasilkan penghasilan hingga US$880 juta (sekitar Rp11,9 triliun) untuk industri pada 2017 lalu. Potensi ini menempatkan Indonesia pada peringkat ke-16 dalam daftar industri game terbesar di dunia. EMAGO adalah sebuah platform berbasis cloud yang didesain untuk memudahkan para gamer dalam bermain game secara online, hasil pengembangan Digital Amoeba milik PT Telkom Indonesia, tbk. Sebagai perusahaan penyedia game dalam bentuk cloud pertama di Indonesia, EMAGO telah berhasil menarik perhatian lebih dari 1000 pelanggan, dan memerlukan upaya marketing public relations untuk memperkenalkan perusahaan lebih luas kepada masyarakat. Internet saat ini menjadi media iklan yang mendominasi, iklan yang berbasis pada mesin pencari, hingga rich media. Internet merupakan media iklan yang populer di kalangan praktisi perencana iklan karena kecepatan dan kemudahannya dalam mengirim pesan, pesan iklan yang disampaikan melalui media internet juga lebih fleksibel dan dapat diperbaharui dengan lebih mudah bila dibandingkan dengan media yang lain. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah studi kasus dimana peneliti berusaha untuk mengetahui bagaimana proses EMAGO dalam membangun brand awareness melalui media sosial Instagram. Setelah peneliti melakukan wawancara kepada ketiga narasumber yang adalah pihak EMAGO sendiri dan dua gamer yang sudah menggunakan produk dari EMAGO, penulis menemukan bahwa strategi komunikasi pemasaran yang dilakukan melalui Instagram, adalah sebuah langkah yang tepat. Melalui pernyataan narasumber, peneliti mendapatkan informasi bahwa manfaat yang ditawarkan oleh EMAGO melalui mekanisme cloud gaming sehingga memudahkan para gamer untuk memainkan banyak game tanpa khawatir terhadap spek PC dan laptop yang dimiliki, sudah diterima oleh narasumber dan dialami langsung melalui pengalaman pribadinya.
