Abstract

The rapid population growth, urbanization and community consumptive patterns have an impact on the increasing amount of household waste in Indonesia. The Village Head of Pondok Petir Sub-district, Depok City, was moved to carry out Community Service (PKM), with the theme of know public awareness in managing a beautiful, comfortable and healthy environment through the Waste Bank program. The purpose of this research is to focus on providing a description of the communication process in building community awareness through the program being implemented. Effendy revealed that in the process, communication has two stages, namely primary and secondary, the primary communication process is the process of conveying thoughts and or feelings of fellow humans to other humans using symbols as a medium. While the secondary communication process is the process of conveying messages by communicators to communicants using tools or means as messengers. The using paradigm constructivism type of research used in this research is descriptive with a qualitative approach. Where the researchers collected primary data, namely interviews with the chairman and members of the Waste Bank program and residents of RW-10 Pondok Petir Village, Depok City. The results of the study concluded that residents in RW 10 of Pondok Petir Depok Village agreed to form a Waste Bank organization and activities to overcome and handle household waste. In its implementation, the waste bank organization as a communicator uses several communication processes in a primary manner by socializing and secondary by using banner media. Public awareness, Waste Bank, Citizen program Pesatnya pertumbuhan penduduk, urbanisasi dan pola konsumtif masyarakat membawa dampak dalam meningkatnya jumlah sampah rumah tangga di Indonesia. Kepala Desa Kelurahan Pondok Petir Kota Depok tergerak untuk melaksanakan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM), dengan tema membangun kesadaran masyarakat dalam menata lingkungan yang asri, nyaman dan sehat melalui program Bank Sampah. Tujuan penelitian ini berfokus untuk mengetahui proses komunikasi dalam membangun kesadaran masyarakat warga melalui program yang dijalankan. Effendy mengungkapkan bahwa dalam prosesnya, komunikasi mempunyai dua tahap yaitu primer dan sekunder, Adapun proses komunikasi secara primer adalah proses penyampaian pikiran dan atau perasaan sesama manusia kepada manusia lain dengan menggunakan lambang sebagai media. Sedangkan proses komunikasi sekunder adalah proses penyampaian pesan oleh komunikator kepada komunikan dengan menggunakan alat atau sarana/media sebagai penyampai pesan. Penelitian ini menggunakan paradigm konstruktivisme Tipe penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Dimana peneliti mengumpulkan data primer yaitu wawancara dengan ketua dan anggota dari program Bank Sampah serta warga RW-10 Kelurahan Pondok Petir Kota Depok. Hasil dari penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa warga di RW 10 Kelurahan Pondok Petir Depok sepakat membentuk organisasi dan kegiatan Bank Sampah guna mengatasi dan menangani sampah rumah tangga. Dalam pelaksanaannya, organisasi bank sampah sebagai komunikator menggunakan dua proses komunikasi yakni proses komunikasi primer melalui sosialisasi tatap muka dan proses komunikasi sekunder dengan media whatsapp, poster dan banner.
