Abstract
Extensification of the digital world has touched various aspects of life, such as social, cultural, economic, political, and ethical aspects. New media (internet) cannot be denied as an important part of the information society. In summary, Ganley (Ward, 1995) asserts that new media allows individuals to play a more active role as citizens. The presence of crowdfunding, which makes it easy for someone to donate by using the internet, is a representation or optimization of the emergence of new media as an interactive and participatory media. Biker and Pinch in The Social Construction of Facts and Asrtefacts: or How the Sociology and the Sociology of Technology might Benefit Each Other (1984) say, the state of technology is like science, that is as social construction, its course depends on many social factors and relationships between social groups. Crowdfunding as a representation of new media, is a technological development that is present because of the existence of social construction and the process of interaction between technologists and social groups. In this study, the author is interested in researching one of the crowdfunding platforms in philanthropic organization NU Care-LAZISNU, NUcare.id, which represents new media representations and is present because of the social construction of technology (SCOT). Key Words: Crowdfunding, New Media, NU Care-LAZISNU, NUcare.id, SCOT Ekstentifikasi dunia digital sudah menyentuh berbagai aspek kehidupan, seperti aspek sosial, budaya, ekonomi, politik, dan etika. Media baru (internet) pun tak dapat dimungkiri menjadi bagian penting dari masyarakat informasi. Secara ringkas, Ganley (dalam Ward, 1995) menegaskan bahwa media baru (new media) memungkinkan individu memainkan peranan yang lebih aktif sebagai warga negara. Kehadiran crowdfunding, yang memudahkan seseorang untuk berdonasi dengan memanfaatkan internet, merupakan representasi atau optimalisasi dari munculnya media baru sebagai media yang interaktif dan partisipatif. Bijker dan Pinch dalam The Social Construction of Facts and Asrtefacts: or How the Sociology and the Sociology of Technologymight Benefit Each Other (1984) mengatakan, keadaan teknologi itu seperti ilmu pengetahuan, yakni sebagai konstruksi sosial, keberadaannya tergantung pada banyak faktor sosial dan hubungannya antar-kelompok sosial (social groups). Sebagai representasi media baru, crowdfunding merupakan perkembangan teknologi yang hadir karena adanya kontruksi sosial dan proses interaksi antar teknolog dengan kelompok sosial. Pada penelitian kali ini, penulis menelaah salah satu platform crowdfunding milik lembaga filantropi NU Care-LAZISNU, yaitu NUcare.id, yang mewakili representasi media baru dan hadir karena adanya konstruksi sosial teknologi (SCOT).
