Abstract
Interpersonal communication between manager and elderly determine comfort self elderly in the neighborhood an elderly .Proximity be a key the success of good communication and intimate .An elderly is a shelter age as a care and accommodate elderly .In the life of in an elderly , the persons who in the role in the process of communication interpersonal in daily activities between manager and elderly .Purpose in this study is to find how communication interpersonal done by the in building proximity to elderly. Kedekatan menjadi kunci keberhasilan proses komunikasi yang baik dan intim. Panti jompo merupakan sebuah tempat penampungan usia lanjut sebagai tempat merawat dan menampung lansia. Dalam kehidupan di panti jompo, pengurus yang memegang peran dalam proses komunikasi interpersonal dalam kegiatan sehari-hari antara pengurus dan lansia. Tujuan dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana komunikasi interpersonal yang dilakukan oleh pengurus dalam membangun kedekatan dengan lansia. Metode yang digunakan adalah jenis penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan melalui wawancara secara mendalam dengan pengurus serta observasi non partisipan. Menggunakan landasan teori dari buku karangan Rachmat Kriyantono dan Julia T Wood.Terkait dengan lima sikap positif Komunikasi Interpersonal:Keterbukaan, Empati, Sikap Mendukung, Positif dan Kesetaraan. Hasil penelitian hubungan komunikasi antara pengurus dengan penghuni. Bahwa menumbuhkan rasa nyaman serta menciptakan lingkungan dengan suasana kekeluargaan yang penuh dengan keramahan dan kenyamanan merupakan cara yang dilakukan perawat dalam membangun kedekatan yang intim. Kedekatan yang telah terbentuk kemudian, dilihat dari lima kualitas umum komunikasi interpersonal, yang setiap kualitas umum tersebut, diperlukan kedekatan antara perawat dengan lansia agar tercapainya komunikasi interpersonal yang baik dan berkualitas. Selain dengan kedekatan yang telah terbentuk, pengurus menyampaikan, memahami karakter masing-masing lansia juga menjadi poin penting dalam sebuah hubungan interpersonal.
