Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine how the 2021 Mercu Buana University Public Relations Majors' Use of Instagram Influences Their Perceptions of Their Own Personality. One way to connect with others and share your thoughts is with an Instagram account, which allows you to post photos, videos, and text. Characteristics of a healthy self-image include the following: high levels of selfconfidence, high levels of ambition, and a track record of successful performance. At the same time, a poor self-image may manifest as an underestimation of one's own strengths and abilities as well as other limitations. A census using area sampling approach was employed as the sample strategy in this investigation. A quantitative technique using a survey method is used in this investigation. The T-test yielded a Sig. value of 0.725, which is higher than the significance level of 0.05. It follows that Ho is approved and H1 is rejected from the outcomes of this score. As a result, the results showed that the 2021 PR students at Mercu Buana University Jakarta's self-perception was unaffected by their use of the Instagram social media app. The researchers found no impact of Instagram usage on self-image based on their investigation of the effects of Instagram use on self-image. Keywords: Instagram, Public Relations, Self-Image Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh Instagram terhadap persepsi diri mahasiswa jurusan Humas Universitas Mercu Buana angkatan 2021. Akun media sosial di Instagram memungkinkan penggunanya untuk berbagi dan mendiskusikan konten melalui album foto, video, dan teks. Memiliki citra diri yang baik melibatkan sifat-sifat yang terlihat dalam kehidupan nyata, seperti memiliki banyak ambisi, sangat percaya diri, dan berprestasi. Di sisi lain, persepsi diri yang buruk mungkin bermanifestasi sebagai sikap meremehkan kekuatan dan kemampuan diri sendiri. Para peneliti dalam penelitian ini menggunakan strategi sensus dengan pengambilan sampel wilayah untuk pemilihan sampelnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan teknik survei sebagai metodenya. Tingkat signifikansi (Sig) dihitung dengan menggunakan data uji T. angka ini lebih dari 0,05, yaitu 0,725. Angka-angka ini membuat kita percaya bahwa Ho benar dan H1 salah. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa PR Universitas Mercu Buana Jakarta angkatan 2021 tidak mengalami perubahan persepsi diri secara signifikan setelah menggunakan aplikasi Instagram. Temuan studi tersebut menolak hipotesis bahwa popularitas Instagram berpengaruh terhadap persepsi pengguna terhadap diri mereka sendiri. Kata Kunci : Instagram, Public Relations, Citra Diri
