Abstract

This research investigates the community's interpretation of the image of the Indonesian National Police (POLRI) in the context of the shooting case of Brigadier J. Using a qualitative method with a case study approach, data was obtained through in-depth interviews with 8 informants. This research aims to understand the interpretations, impressions, and theoretical views of the community regarding the Brigadier Yosua Hutabarat murder case. Harrison's Image Theory was used to analyze elements of Polri's image such as professionalism, accountability, transparency, justice, and reform. The results showed that the majority of informants had a negative view of Polri's image in this case, with key findings including dissatisfaction with professionalism, accountability, transparency, fairness, and supporting the need for Polri reform. This research provides an indepth understanding of the importance of the image of law enforcement institutions in maintaining public trust and emphasizes the need for concrete and comprehensive actions to improve Polri's image. Keywords: Interpretation, Perception, Image, Indonesian National Police Penelitian ini menginvestigasi interpretasi masyarakat terhadap citra Kepolisian Republik Indonesia (Polri) dalam konteks kasus penembakan Brigadir J. Menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus, data diperoleh melalui wawancara mendalam dengan 8 informan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami interpretasi, kesan, dan pandangan teoritis masyarakat terkait kasus pembunuhan Brigadir Yosua Hutabarat. Teori Citra oleh Harrison digunakan untuk menganalisis elemen-elemen citra Polri seperti profesionalitas, akuntabilitas, transparansi, keadilan, dan reformasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan mayoritas informan memiliki pandangan negatif terhadap citra Polri dalam kasus ini, dengan temuan utama mencakup ketidakpuasan terhadap profesionalitas, akuntabilitas, transparansi, keadilan, dan mendukung perlunya reformasi Polri. Penelitian ini memberikan pemahaman yang mendalam tentang pentingnya citra institusi penegak hukum dalam menjaga kepercayaan masyarakat dan menegaskan perlunya tindakan yang konkret dan komprehensif untuk memperbaiki citra Polri.
