Abstract

Watching series is an activity that liked by many people to spend their times or simply as amusement. In a few recent years, series has always been a top chart at video streaming websites or applications such as Netflix, Viu, Disney+, WeTV, etc. Data source in this study is a series from Japan entitled How to be Likeable in A Crisis. This series tells ups and downs of the life of public relations practitioners in the modern era. This study aims to find out how the IPRA standard public relations’s code of ethics is applied in the series of Japan. This study uses a qualitative approach with case study. Researchers collect data by observation and literature review techniques. Based on the results of the study, it shows that there are eleven scenes that show an illustration of the application of the IPRA standard public relations’s code of ethics in the series. The eleven codes of ethics include integrity, dialogue, openness, avoiding conflicts, maintaining confidentiality of information, implementing accuracy, avoiding fake news, and applying a professional code of ethics to colleagues. Keywords: code of conduct, IPRA, public relations, series Menonton serial drama merupakan aktivitas yang digemari banyak orang untuk sekadar mengisi waktu luang maupun sebagai media hiburan. Dalam beberapa tahun terakhir, serial drama seringkali memuncaki chart tertinggi di aplikasi video streaming seperti Netflix, Viu, Disney+, WeTV, dll. Serial drama yang menjadi sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah serial drama asal Jepang yang berjudul How to be Likeable in A Crisis. Serial drama Jepang ini menceritakan likaliku kehidupan praktisi public relations di era modern. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana penerapan kode etik public relations standar IPRA dalam serial drama Jepang How to be Likeable in A Crisis. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode penelitian studi kasus. Peneliti mengumpulkan data dengan teknik observasi dan studi pustaka. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat sebelas adegan yang menunjukkan gambaran penerapan kode etik public relations IPRA dalam serial drama Jepang How to be Likeable in A Crisis. Kesebelas kode etik tersebut meliputi penerapan kode etik integritas, menerapkan konsep dialog, menerapkan konsep keterbukaan, menghindari konflik kepentingan, menjaga kerahasiaan informasi, melaksanakan ketepatan, menghindari berita bohong, dan menerapkan kode etik profesi kepada rekan sejawat.
