Abstract
This study aims to analyze the reception of adolescents in Tangerang regarding speech acts and the use of slang language in the "Grind Boys" Youtube content on Gofar Hilman’s channel. The main fokus of this research is to understand how adolescents receive, interpret, and adopt this communication style in their daily lives, as well as to map the audience's reading positions based on Stuart Hall's Encoding & Decoding theory. Utilizing a constructivist paradigm and qualitative reception analysis method, this research finds that adolescents in Tangerang do not act as passive audiences. The majority of informants are in a negotiated position, where they adopt the "Grind Boys" slang as cultural capital for social identity and existence within their peer groups, yet they still actively filter its usage based on situational context, time, and interlocutors to remain aligned with politeness norms. The results of this study confirm that new media has significant power in shifting verbal communication standards in urban society; however, adolescents still demonstrate situational intelligence in balancing freedom of expression in the digital space with social norms in the real world. Keywords: Speech Act, Slang Language, Reception Analysis, Adolescents, Youtube, Grind Boys Penelitian ini mempunyai tujuan untuk menganalisis resepsi remaja di Tangerang terhadap Speech Act dan penggunaan Bahasa Gaul dalam konten Youtube Grind Boys pada kanal Gofar Hilman. Fokus utama penelitian ini adalah memahami bagaimana remaja menerima, memaknai, dan mengadopsi gaya Bahasa tersebut dalam kehidupan sehari-hari mereka, serta memetakan posisi pembacaan audiens berdasarkan teori Encoding & Decoding dari Stuart Hall. Menggunakan paradigma konstruktivisme dan metode analisis resepsi kualitatif, penelitian ini menemukan bahwa remaja di Tangerang tidak bertindak sebagai khalayak pasif. Mayoritas informan berada pada posisi negosiasi, di mana mereka mengadopsi Bahasa gaul Grind Boys sebagai modal budaya untuk identitas sosial dan eksistensi di lingkungan sebaya, namun tetap melakukan penyaringan aktif berdasarkan konteks situasi, waktu, dan lawan bicara agar tetap sesuai dengan norma kesantunan. Hasil penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa media baru memiliki kekuatan besar untuk menggeser standar komunikasi verbal di Masyarakat sekitar, namun remaja tetap menunjukan kecerdasan situasional dalam menyeimbangkan kebebasan berekspresi di ruang digital dengan norma sosial di dunia nyata.
