Abstract
This research is entitled "The Influence of Principal's Communication Style and Leadership Style on Teacher Performance Motivation: A Survey at SMKS PGRI 1 Balaraja." The principal plays a vital role in creating a positive work environment through effective communication and leadership that encourages and inspires teachers within the school environment. Therefore, this study is essential to assess the extent to which the principal's communication and leadership styles influence teacher performance motivation, both individually and collectively. A quantitative approach utilizing a survey method was employed for this study. The entire teacher population at SMKS PGRI 1 Balaraja served as the target group, with a sample of 48 individuals selected through a saturation sampling method. Information was gathered by distributing questionnaires designed around aspects of interpersonal communication style, transformational leadership, and teacher performance motivation. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics via Spearman’s Rho correlation test. The findings indicate that the principal's communication style is perceived as highly effective, with openness as the highest indicator. This communication style exhibits a positive and very strong correlation with teacher performance motivation, yielding a correlation coefficient of 0.843 with a significance level of 0.000 (p < 0.05). Additionally, the principal's leadership style is also considered highly effective, with idealized influence standing out as a key indicator. This leadership style shows a positive and very strong correlation with teacher performance motivation, with a correlation coefficient of 0.816 and a significance level of 0.000 (p < 0.05). These results demonstrate that teacher performance motivation is shaped by a combination of quality interpersonal communication and motivating leadership practices within the school organizational environment. Penelitian ini berjudul “Pengaruh Gaya Komunikasi dan Gaya Kepemimpinan Kepala Sekolah terhadap Motivasi Kinerja Guru Survei di SMKS PGRI 1 Balaraja”. Kepala sekolah memiliki peran penting dalam menciptakan lingkungan kerja yang positif melalui komunikasi dan kepemimpinan yang efektif yang mendorong dan menginspirasi guru di lingkungan sekolah. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini penting dilakukan untuk menilai sejauh mana gaya komunikasi dan kepemimpinan kepala sekolah mempengaruhi motivasi kinerja guru, baik secara individu maupun kolektif. Pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode survei digunakan untuk penelitian ini. Seluruh populasi guru di SMKS PGRI 1 Balaraja dijadikan sebagai kelompok sasaran penelitian, dengan sampel sebanyak 48 individu yang dipilih melalui metode pengambilan sampel jenuh. Informasi dikumpulkan dengan mendistribusikan kuesioner yang dirancang seputar aspek gaya komunikasi interpersonal, kepemimpinan transformasional, dan motivasi kinerja guru. Data yang dikumpulkan dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan inferensial melalui uji korelasi Spearman’s Rho. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa gaya komunikasi kepala sekolah dinilai sangat efektif, dengan dimensi keterbukaan sebagai indikator tertinggi. Gaya komunikasi ini memiliki hubungan positif dan sangat kuat terhadap motivasi kinerja guru dengan koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,843 dan tingkat signifikansi 0,000 (p < 0,05). Selain itu, gaya kepemimpinan kepala sekolah juga dianggap sangat efektif, dengan dimensi pengaruh ideal menonjol sebagai indikator kunci. Gaya kepemimpinan ini memiliki hubungan positif dan sangat kuat terhadap motivasi kinerja guru dengan koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,816 dan tingkat signifikansi 0,000 (p < 0,05). Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa motivasi kinerja guru dibentuk oleh perpaduan antara komunikasi interpersonal yang berkualitas dan praktik kepemimpinan yang memotivasi dalam lingkungan organisasi sekolah.
