Abstract

The development of technology and modern lifestyles has influenced family communication patterns, particularly among younger generations, potentially leading to a shift in family values such as affection, care, and togetherness. Film as a mass communication medium functions not only as entertainment but also as an educational and reflective tool in shaping audience perceptions. This study aims to examine the effect of exposure to the film Bila Esok Ibu Tiada (2024) on changes in audience perceptions of family values. A quantitative approach with a survey method was applied to 75 Broadcasting students of Universitas Mercu Buana, Class of 2022, Meruya Campus. Film exposure was measured through the dimensions of duration, frequency, attention, and content type, while changes in perception were measured using indicators of absorption, understanding, and evaluation. This study is based on the Stimulus–Organism–Response (S-O-R) Theory, Media Exposure Theory, and Perception Theory, which explain that media messages are processed internally and produce responses in the form of perceptual changes. The results indicate that exposure to the film Bila Esok Ibu Tiada has a significant effect on changes in students’ perceptions of family values. Keywords: Film Exposure, Audience Perception, Family Values, S-O-R Theory Perkembangan teknologi dan gaya hidup modern memengaruhi pola komunikasi keluarga, khususnya pada generasi muda, sehingga berpotensi menyebabkan pergeseran nilai-nilai keluarga seperti kasih sayang, kepedulian, dan kebersamaan. Film sebagai media komunikasi massa tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai hiburan, tetapi juga memiliki peran edukatif dan reflektif dalam membentuk persepsi khalayak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh terpaan film Bila Esok Ibu Tiada (2024) terhadap perubahan persepsi khalayak mengenai nilai-nilai keluarga. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode survei terhadap 75 mahasiswa Broadcasting Universitas Mercu Buana Angkatan 2022 Kampus Meruya. Terpaan film diukur melalui dimensi durasi, frekuensi, atensi, dan jenis isi, sedangkan perubahan persepsi diukur melalui indikator penyerapan, pengertian, dan penilaian. Penelitian ini berlandaskan Teori Stimulus–Organism–Response (SO-R), Teori Terpaan Media, dan Teori Persepsi, yang menjelaskan bahwa pesan film sebagai stimulus diproses secara internal dan menghasilkan respons berupa perubahan persepsi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terpaan film Bila Esok Ibu Tiada berpengaruh signifikan terhadap perubahan persepsi mahasiswa mengenai nilai-nilai keluarga.
