Abstract
This study investigates how CNN.com constructs the discourse of Indonesian men’s national football team naturalization during September 2024– September 2025 using Robert N. Entman’s framing model. The research adopts a qualitative approach and applies framing analysis to examine how media texts organize meaning around a strategic sports-policy issue. Data were collected through textual analysis of four CNN.com news articles published within the specified period. The analysis focuses on framing elements such as issue selection and salience, including lexical choices, informational focus, and the emphasis placed on particular aspects of the reported events. Overall, the findings suggest that CNN.com constructs naturalization as a contested arena of meaning between short-term policy rationality (immediate competitive needs and performance targets) and long-term identity and development concerns (national representation and sustainable talent cultivation). Discursive markers such as “fast-tracked,” “legal/strategic,” and “akamsi” operate as typification cues that guide public interpretation. Drawing on Berger and Luckmann’s social construction perspective, repeated references to legal procedures and political approvals contribute to the objectification of naturalization as a “reasonable” solution, while identity- and ethics-oriented narratives function as counter-discourses that delimit the meaning of national representation. The study contributes theoretically by reinforcing framing as a bridge between media discourse and the institutionalization of meaning, where language, authority, and procedural rituals jointly stabilize social realities. Practically, the findings recommend that CNN.com strengthen balance and contextual depth when reporting strategic issues such as player naturalization. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui konstruksi naturalisasi tim nasional sepakbola Indonesia pada pemberitaan cnn.com dalam periode September 2024 – September 2025, dengan metode framing model Robert N. Entman. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode analisis framing untuk mengeksplorasi cara media menyajikan dan membingkai peristiwa atau isu tertentu, serta bagaimana hal ini memengaruhi pandangan publik. Dalam penelitian ini, penulis mengidentifikasi elemen-elemen framing, seperti pemilihan kata, fokus informasi, dan penekanan pada aspek-aspek tertentu dari kejadian yang diberitakan. Data diperoleh melalui analisis teks media dari 4 Artikel berita yang diterbitkan oleh media cnn.com pada periode September 2024 – September 2025 Secara keseluruhan, penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa CNN.com mengonstruksi naturalisasi sebagai arena makna yang dipertarungkan antara rasionalitas kebijakan jangka pendek dan identitas pembinaan jangka panjang, di mana Bahasa melalui penanda seperti “dikebut”, “sah/strategis”, dan “akamsi”, berfungsi sebagai perangkat tipifikasi yang menuntun persepsi publik. Dalam kerangka Berger & Luckmann, repetisi simbolik atas prosedur hukum dan persetujuan politik memperkuat objektivasi naturalisasi sebagai solusi “wajar”, sementara wacana identitas dan etika menjadi mekanisme tandingan yang menjaga batas makna representasi nasional. Hasil penelitian ini memiliki implikasi terhadap ilmu pengetahuan, Secara teoretis, penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa framing adalah mekanisme penghubung antara praktik diskursif media dan proses institusionalisasi makna bahasa, otoritas, dan ritual prosedural bekerja sinergis sebagai sarana objektivasi yang membekukan realitas dalam kesadaran sosial. Secara praktis hasil penelitian ini dapat menjadi masukan bagi media cnn.com agar lebih memperhatikan keberimbangan dalam pemberitaan isu strategis seperti naturalisasi.
