Abstract
This study was motivated by the phenomenon of declining employee productivity and performance due to high workloads, demanding targets, and working conditions that have the potential to cause stress. In this context, emotional intelligence is seen as an important factor that can help employees manage their emotions, cope with pressure, and maintain optimal performance. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the influence of emotional intelligence and work stress on employee performance at PT X. The theoretical review refers to the concept of emotional intelligence developed by Wong & Law (2002) through the Wong and Law Emotional Intelligence Scale (WLEIS) instrument, the concept of work stress from Robbins' theory (2013), and employee performance measured using the Individual Work Performance Questionnaire (IWPQ) instrument from Koopmans et al. (2014). This study used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. The number of respondents was 136 employees selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data analysis was performed using simple regression and multiple regression to evaluate the contribution of each variable, as well as a correlation matrix to identify patterns of relationships between the dimensions of the research variables. Data processing was performed using SPSS version 22 and JAMOVI version 2.5.3 software, which enabled more comprehensive statistical analysis and more intuitive data visualization. The results showed that emotional intelligence had a positive and significant effect on performance. Partially and simultaneously, both variables had a significant effect on performance, where emotional intelligence was proven to improve performance, while work stress tended to decrease performance if not managed properly. This study provides practical contributions to human resource management, particularly in designing employee development policies that focus not only on technical aspects but also on psychological aspects that support work performance. Keywords: Emotional Intelligence, Work Stress, and Employee Performance Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh fenomena menurunnya produktivitas dan kinerja karyawan akibat tingginya beban kerja, tuntutan target, serta kondisi lingkungan kerja yang berpotensi menimbulkan stres. Dalam konteks tersebut, kecerdasan emosional dipandang sebagai salah satu faktor penting yang dapat membantu karyawan dalam mengelola emosi, menghadapi tekanan, serta mempertahankan kinerja optimal. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh kecerdasan emosional dan stres kerja terhadap kinerja karyawan pada PT X. Kajian teori merujuk pada konsep kecerdasan emosional yang dikembangkan Wong & Law (2002) melalui instrumen Wong and Law Emotional Intelligence Scale (WLEIS), konsep stres kerja dari teori Robbins (2013), serta kinerja karyawan yang diukur dengan instrumen Individual Work Performance Questionnaire (IWPQ) dari Koopmans et al. (2014). Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain crosssectional. Jumlah responden sebanyak 136 orang karyawan yang dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Analisis data dilakukan melalui regresi sedarhana dan regresi berganda untuk mengevaluasi kontribusi masing-masing variabel, serta matriks korelasi untuk mengidentifikasi pola hubungan antar dimensi variabel penelitian. Pengolahan data dilakukan menggunakan bantuan software SPSS versi 22 dan JAMOVI versi 2.5.3 yang memungkinkan analisis statistic yang lebih komprehensif serta visualisasi data yang lebih intuitif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kecerdasan emosional berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap kinerja, Secara parsial dan simultan, kedua variabel memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap kinerja, dimana kecerdasan emosional terbukti mampu meningkatkan kinerja, sedangkan stres kerja memiliki pengaruh yang cenderung menurunkan kinerja jika tidak dikelola dengan baik. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi praktis bagi manajemen sumber daya manusia, khususnya dalam merancang kebijakan pengembangan karyawan yang tidak hanya fokus pada aspek teknis, tetapi juga pada aspek psikologis yang menunjang performa kerja.
