Abstract
This research aims to reveal the representation of spirituality in the music video Berpayung Tuhan by Gusti Irwan Wibowo through Roland Barthes’ semiotics and Zohar & Marshall’s concept of spirituality. The analysis is structured within Barthes’ three levels of meaning: denotation, connotation, and myth. At the denotative level, the video portrays the emotional journey of the main character through dimly lit rooms, an empty bus, social interactions, and finally returning to a familiar old house. At the connotative level, video elements such as hugs, walking movements, and the presence of a furry figure represent inner transformation, a sense of safety, and the search for transcendental meaning. At the mythical level, the video constructs a modern spirituality that is grounded, inclusive, and reflective, not dependent on formal religious symbols but built on love, connection, and personal protection. The findings highlight five aspects of Zohar & Marshall’s spirituality: facing suffering, serving and giving, holistic awareness, meaning-making in life, and authenticity. Thus, Berpayung Tuhan illustrates spirituality as an emotional and reflective human experience that is universal. Keywords: spirituality; music video; Roland Barthes' semiotics. Video klip musik pada era digital tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai hiburan, tetapi juga sebagai medium representasi nilai dan spiritualitas. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengungkap representasi spiritualitas dalam video klip Berpayung Tuhan karya Gusti Irwan Wibowo melalui pendekatan semiotika Roland Barthes dan teori spiritualitas Zohar & Marshall. Metode penelitian bersifat kualitatif dengan analisis semiotika Barthes pada tiga tataran makna yaitu denotasi, konotasi, dan mitos. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada tataran denotasi, video menampilkan perjalanan emosional tokoh utama melalui ruang remang, bus, interaksi sosial, hingga kembali ke rumah tua. Pada tataran konotasi, elemen visual seperti pelukan, langkah, dan sosok berbulu merepresentasikan transformasi batin, rasa aman, dan pencarian makna transendental. Pada tataran mitos, video membangun konstruksi spiritualitas modern yang membumi, inklusif, dan reflektif, tidak bertumpu pada simbol religius formal, melainkan pada kasih, keterhubungan, dan perlindungan personal. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa Berpayung Tuhan merepresentasikan lima aspek spiritualitas Zohar & Marshall: menghadapi penderitaan, memberi dan melayani, kesadaran holistik, pemberian makna hidup, serta integritas diri. Dengan demikian, video ini menegaskan spiritualitas sebagai pengalaman emosional dan reflektif yang universal. Kata Kunci: spiritualitas; video klip; semiotika Roland Barthes.
