Abstract

The development of communication and information technology in this digital era has brought significant changes in people’s lives, especially with the presence of the internet and social media. Sosial media such as Tiktok, Instagram, and Youtube have become platforms for various content, especially horror content that is favoured by the public, especially among students. This study aims to examine the influence of Horor Content on social media on the behaviour of students of the faculty of Communication Sciences, Mercu Buana University. Quantitative approach with a positivism paradigm and survey method by distributing questionnaires distributed to 262 respondens who met the predetermined purposive sampling criteria. The result showed that the regression equation Y = 19,017 + 1,536X, which means that there is a positive influence of horror content on social media on student behaviour in the Mercu Buana University campus environment. The correlation value is 0,643 which states a strong relationship between the two variabels, with a coefficient of determination of 47,8% which indicates that most of the behaviour of students on the Mercu Buana University is influenced by horror content on social media. The hypothesis test is at 15,444 > 1,969 which means Ho is rejected, this states that there is a significant influence. Keywords: Horror Content, Social Media, Student Behaviour Perkembangan teknologi komunikasi dan informasi di era digital ini telah membawa perubahan yang signifikan di dalam kehidupan masyarakat, terutama dengan hadirnya internet dan media sosial. Media sosial seperti, Tiktok, Instagram, dan Youtube menjadi platform untuk berbagai konten, terutama konten horor yang digemari oleh masyarakat, khususnya kalangan mahasiswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji Pengaruh Konten Horor Yang ada di media sosial terhadap perilaku mahasiswa Fakultas Ilmu Komunikasi, Universitas Mercu Buana. Pendekatan kuantitatif dengan paradigma positivisme dan metode survei dengan penyebaran kuesioner yang disebarkan sebanyak 262 responden yang memenuhi kriteria purposive sampling yang telah ditetapkan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persamaan regresi Y=19,017+1,536X, yang mengartikan bahwa adanya pengaruh positif dari konten horor di media sosial terhadap perilaku mahasiswa di lingkungan kampus UMB. Nilai korelasi sebesar 0,643 yang menyatakan hubungan yang kuat di antara kedua variabel, dengan koefisien determinasi 47,8% yang menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar perilaku mahasiswa di lingkungan kampus UMB dipengaruhi oleh konten horor di media sosial. Uji hipotesis berada di 15,444 > 1,969 yang berarti Ho ditolak dan Ha diterima, hal ini menyatakan bahwa adanya pengaruh yang signifikan. Kata Kunci: Konten Horor, Media Sosial, Perilaku Mahasiwa
