Abstract

Film is a text that depicts social reality. A film's text contributes to its meaning and reflects the culture of the time. The film's message, which introduces a culture and encourages the development of a democratic society, can serve as both an instructional and informing tool for the audience. Additionally, movies can bring people together and create social realities that exist in society. The author of this study believes that the movie "Raya and The Last Dragon" changes how pluralism is understood. The storyline, the diversity that exists, and the features of the differences represented in the film all contribute to the fact that a film can improve people's lives. The purpose of this study is to identify the different designations, implications, and myths present in the movie "Raya and the Last Dragon." The constructivist paradigm is used in this study's writing to carry out Roland Barthes' semiotic analysis. This study used qualitative research techniques to comprehend the multiple meanings in the film "Raya and the Last Dragon,". The meaning of pluralism, equality of difference, and strength as they relate to democracy is demonstrated in this film based on the findings of research and discussion. The differences that are formed into an equation have implications that are related to the differences that are denotatively expressed. This film shows cohesion and unity despite differences. As a result, a myth develops that suggests a change in meaning from plurality, specifically that strength and unity are created from existing distinctions and diversity. Keywords: Plurality, Semiotics, Film, Culture, Democracy. Film sesungguhnya merupakan sebuah teks yang mempresentasikan realitas sosial. Teks yang terkandung dalam sebuah film membentuk sebuah makna sekaligus mencerminkan budaya tertentu. Pesan yang disampaikan dalam film dapat informatif serta sebagai media edukasi bagi penonton, pesan untuk memperkenalkan sebuah budaya, membangun masyarakat yang demokrasi serta film juga dapat mempersatukan perbedaan dan mengkonstruksi realita sosial yang terjadi pada masyarakat. Penulis dalam penelitian ini melihat pergeseran makna pluralisme dalam film “Raya dan The Last Dragon”. Bahwa terdapat fakta bahwa sebuah film dapat menjalankan fungsi memperbaiki kehidupan masyarakat dengan jalan ceritanya dengan keragaman yang ada serta ciri khas dari perbedaan yang tergambarkan pada film tersebut. Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan agar dapat mengetahui berbagai makna dari segi peruntukan, implikasi dan mitos yang terdapat dalam film "Raya and the Last Dragon". Penulisan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan paradigma konstruktivis untuk melakukan analisis semiotik Roland Barthes dan penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif untuk memahami berbagai makna dalam film “Raya and the Last Dragon”. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan diskusi, dapat dikatakan bahwa film ini menunjukkan makna pluralisme yang dipahami secara demokratis, kesetaraan perbedaan serta kekuatan. Perbedaan-perbedaan yang secara denotative tergambarkan memiliki konotasi yang dikaitkan dengan perbedaan-perbedaan yang terkonstruksi menjadi sebuah persamaan. Pada film tersebut menggambarkan kebersamaan dan persatuan dalam sebuah perbedaan, sehingga timbullah mitos yang menggambarkan pergeseran makna dari pluralitas yaitu sebuah kekuatan dan persatuan terbentuk dari sebuah perbedaan dan keragaman yang ada.
