Abstract

COVID-19 has brought many good and bad impacts to all living things andthe universe. All efforts have been made by the government to minimize cases of COVID-19 transmission. It is undeniable, one of which is the online or online learning policy for all students to students due to social restrictions. This activity has an impact on the world of education, making new students of the class of 2020 carry out lectures online. Therefore, lectures conducted online are different from offline or face-to-face lectures. The theory used in this study is the theory of CMC (Computer Mediated Communication) from Walther. This theory explains about communication that is done through computer media. At this time the use of CMC is considered a solution in processing information, delivering messages, disseminating news, and even being able to carry out long-distance communication. The results showed that some students still did not understand the material in online learning, obstacles in the process of delivering messages between students and lecturers, there were still students who did not understand and master the material given by the lecturer. The solution in overcoming obstacles between students and lecturers is that students do not need to be afraid to ask questions about material that is still not understood. And in online learning, students are required to be more active in asking the lecturers. Keywords : Online learning, Computer Mediated Communication, COVID-19, Education COVID-19 banyak membawa dampak baik maupun dampak buruk bagi semuamakhluk hidup dan alam semesta. Segala daya dan upaya telah dilakukan oleh pemerintah guna memperkecil kasus penularan COVID-19. Tak terpungkiri, salah satunya ialah kebijakan belajar online atau dalam jaringan (daring) untuk seluruh siswahingga mahasiswa dikarenakan adanya pembatasan sosial. Aktivitas ini berdampak bagi dunia pendidikan, membuat mahasiswa baru angkatan 2020 melaksanakan perkuliahan secara online. Oleh sebab itu perkuliahan yang dilakukan secara online ini memiliki perbedaan dengan kuliah offline atau tatap muka. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori CMC (Computer Mediated Communication) dari Walther. Teori ini menjelaskan tentang komunikasi yang dilakukan melalui media komputer. Pada saat ini penggunaan CMC dianggap sebagai solusi dalam memproses informasi, penyampaian pesan, penyebaran berita, bahkan dapat melakukan komunikasi jarak jauh. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagaian mahasiswa masih kurang memahami materi pada pembelajaran daring, hambatan dalam proses penyampaian pesan antara mahasiswa dan dosen, masih ada mahasiswa yang kurang memahami dan menguasai materi yang diberikan dosen. Solusi dalam mengatasi hambatan antara mahasiswa dan dosen adalah mahasiswa tidak perlu takut untuk menanyakan kembalimateri yang masih belum dipahami. Dan dalam pembelajaran daring mahasiswadiharuskan lebih aktif bertanya kepada dosen. Kata kunci : Pembelajaran online, Computer Mediated Communication, Covid-19, Pendidikan.
