Abstract

The communication climate describes the atmosphere or atmosphere in a relationship, which is how humans communicate and interact with each other. According to Redding (1972) the communication climate is far more important than communication skills or techniques solely in creating an effective organization. This research discusses how the special event "Shopee Play Day 2019" in creating a communication climate in the internal public of PT Shopee International Indonesia. The phenomena in the portraits and observations carried out were during the event, namely on January 11, 2019 and after the event that is until April 30, 2019. While the research period was conducted through a qualitative approach for two years, namely January 11, 2019 to January 24, 2021. The research concept used refers to the concept of organizational climate dimensions according to Litwin and Stringer (1968) (Toulson & Smith in Prihatsanti 2010) namely: (1.) Supportiveness (responsibility), (2.) identity, (3.) warmth, (4.) support and (5.) conflict. The five dimensions of the organization's climate will be associated with the concept of employee relations programs, special events. This research refers to the paradigm of post positivism. The research was conducted using qualitative research method. Data analysis techniques used in this research is qualitative data analysis by presenting the results of interviews and conducting analysis and drawing conclusions on information found in the field so that a clear picture of the object will be obtained and then will be drawn conclusions. The results showed that the implementation of PT Shopee International Indonesia employee relations activities through Shopee Play Day 2019 special event, has succeeded in creating a positive communication climate in the internal public of PT Shopee International Indonesia. It can be seen that the fulfillment of the five dimensions of the organizational climate through the employee relations program, Shopee Play Day 2019 special events. Keywords: employee relations, special event, climate communication, Play Day Iklim komunikasi menggambarkan suasana atau atmosfer di dalam suatu hubungan, yaitu bagaimana cara manusia saling berkomunikasi dan berinteraksi satu sama lain. Menurut Redding (1972) iklim komunikasi menjadi hal yang jauh lebih penting daripada keterampilan atau teknik-teknik komunikasi semata-mata dalam menciptakan suatu organisasi yang efektif. Penelitian ini membahas bagaimana special event “Shopee Play Day 2019” dalam menciptakan iklim komunikasi pada publik internal PT Shopee International Indonesia. Fenomena yang di potret serta observasi yang dilakukan adalah saat event yaitu pada tanggal 11 Januari 2019 dan setelah event yaitu hingga tanggal 30 April 2019. Sedangkan periode penelitian dilakukan melalui pendekatan kualitatif selama dua tahun, yaitu 11 Januari 2019 hingga 24 Januari 2021. Konsep penelitian yang digunakan mengacu pada konsep dimensi iklim organisasi menurut Litwin dan Stringer (1968) (Toulson & Smith dalam Prihatsanti 2010) yaitu: (1.) Supportiveness (tanggung jawab), (2.) identity (identitas), (3.) warmth (kehangatan), (4.) support (dukungan) dan (5.) conflict (konflik). Kelima dimensi iklim organisasi ini akan dikaitkan dengan konsep program employee relations, special events. Penelitian ini mengacu pada paradigma post positivism. Penelitian dilakukan menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis data kualitatif yaitu dengan cara menyajikan hasil wawancara dan melakukan analisis serta menarik kesimpulan terhadap informasi yang ditemukan di lapangan sehingga akan diperoleh gambaran yang jelas tentang objek yang diteliti dan kemudian akan ditarik kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa implementasi kegiatan employee relations PT Shopee International Indonesia melalui kegiatan special event Shopee Play Day 2019, telah berhasil menciptakan iklim komunikasi positif pada publik internal PT Shopee International Indonesia. Hal ini dapat dilihat bahwa terpenuhinya kelima dimensi iklim organisasi melalui program employee relations, special events Shopee Play Day 2019.
