Abstract

In the modern era with technological advances, the delivery of information and messages has experienced a convergence by no longer relying solely on electronic and print media, but also increasingly on social media, one of which is LINE as one of the most popular Instant Messenger when this. LINE is a communication and information media that is needed by all groups. In this research, the impact of communication is related to the Theory of Uses and Effects. Theory has an effect on the use of the media as a source of information. In line with this theory, the audience receives the impact caused after reading news articles on Line Today has an effect on the audience. The impact received was Meeting the Information Needs of Mercu Buana Buana Broadcasting 2018 Students in the Line Today feature. This study uses a quantitative approach to the type of explanatory research. The method used is using the survey method with a questionnaire as the main instrument to get information from a number of respondents. Explain how the media is used and the results of this study indicate that the probability level of 0.001 is much smaller than the significance level of 0.05 (significance level a = 5%) which means Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, or it can be concluded that there is Significant influence between Line Today Features on combating hoaxes on meeting the information needs of 2018 mercu buana buana broadcasting students, with a correlation number of 0.417 which shows that the level of correlation (correlation) in this study is quite, positive and unidirectional. Of the several dimensions that have been described in the concept operationalization table, which has the most dominant influence on combating hoaxes to meet the information needs of 2018 mercu buana buana broadcasting students is the information dimension of the Line Today variable with news content indicators. Keywords: LINE Today, Meeting Needs, Combating Hoax Tools Mobile View Share Di era modern dengan kemajuan teknologi, penyampaian informasi dan pesan telah mengalami konvergensi dengan tidak lagi hanya mengandalkan media elektronik dan cetak, namun juga kian merambah pada media sosial, salah satunya adalah LINE sebagai salah satu Instant Messenger terpopuler saat ini. LINE merupakan sebuah media komunikasi dan informasi yang sangat diperlukan oleh semua kalangan. Dalam penelitian ini, dampak komunikasi berkaitan dengan Teori Uses and Effects. Teori ini menjelaskan tentang bagaimana media itu digunakan dan menimbulkan efek atas penggunaan media tersebut sebagai sumber informasi. Sejalan dengan teori ini, khalayak menerima dampak yang ditimbulkan setelah membaca artikel berita di Line Today memberikan efek kepada khalayaknya. Dampak yang diterima adalah Pemenuhan Kebutuhan Informasi Mahasiswa Mercu Buana Buana Broadcasting 2018 di fitur Line Today. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan tipe penelitian eksplanatif. Metode yang digunakan yaitu menggunakan metode survey dengan kuisioner sebagai instrumen utama untuk mendapatkan informasi dari sejumlah responden. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa tingkat probabilitas sebesar 0,001 yakni jauh lebih kecil dari nilai taraf signifikasi sebesar 0,05 (taraf signifikasi α = 5%) yang berarti Ho ditolak dan Ha diterima, atau dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan antara Fitur Line Today terhadap dalam memerangi hoax terhadap pemenuhan kebutuhan informasi mahasiswa mercu buana buana broadcasting 2018, dengan angka korelasi sebesar 0,417 yang menunjukan bahwa tingkat hubungan (korelasi) pada penelitian ini tergolong cukup, positif dan searah. Dari beberapa dimensi yang telah di paparkan pada tabel operasionalisasi konsep, yang memiliki pengaruh paling dominan terhadap dalam memerangi hoax terhadap pemenuhan kebutuhan informasi mahasiswa mercu buana buana broadcasting 2018 merupakan dimensi informasi dari variable Line Today dengan indikator konten berita.
