Abstract
Along with the development and technology of the emergence of social media which is used as a means of communication of information, and one of it’s uses is to submit information about its users, this is related to self disclosure, the phenomenon of openness and confinement through the latest Instagram. Features, Instagram Story becomes something interesting to learn. Instagram Story has become a place to express yourself to most users. The purpose of this study was to determine the description and behavior that encourages female students to make self disclosure through Instagram self stories performed by female students. This study uses the constructivism paradigm, a qualitative descriptive method with the approach used, namely phenomenology. The subjects in this study were Instagram Story users, namely Public Relations University of Mercu Buana. The informants in this study were 5 people, of whom 4 were active users of the Instagram Story Feature while 1 informant was a passive user of Instagram Story. Data collection in depth interviews and literature studies and reference book studies related to research problems. in this study, the results of this study were self-disclosure through Instagram social media in the user's Story feature based on various self concepts according to their needs in using Instagram Story as a place to tell stories. However, their intent and purpose is to use the same Instagram Story, which is to share about daily life, activities, or information. And often nstagram stories are also used as a place to express what they feel and experience. The phenomenology study in this study is the method used to explore the phenomenon of Instagram Story users Keywords: Social Media, Self Disclosure, Instagram Story. Seiring perkembangan zaman dan teknologi munculnya media sosial digunakan sebagai sarana berkomunikasi untuk membagikan informasi, dan salah satunya menyampaikan informasi mengenai dirinya, hal tersebut berhubungan dengan self disclosure (pengungkapan diri). Fenomena keterbukaan dan pengungkapan diri yang dilakukan mahasiswi melalui Fitur terbaru Instagram yaitu Instagram Story menjadi sesuatu yang menarik untuk dikaji. Instagram Story telah menjadi wadah untuk mengekspresikan diri bagi sebagian besar penggunanya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui gambaran dan perilaku yang mendorong Mahasiswi untuk melakukan Self Disclosure melalui Instagram Story. Penelitian ini menggunakan paradigma konstruktivistik, metode yang digunakan yaitu deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. Subjek pada penelitian ini adalah pengguna Instagram Story yaitu Mahasiswi Public Relations Universitas Mercu Buana angkatan 2015. Informan pada penelitian ini berjumlah 5 orang, yang mana 4 diantaranya merupakan pengguna aktif Fitur Instagram Story sedangkan 1 orang informan merupakan pengguna pasif fitur Instagram Story. Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini diperoleh melalui wawancara mendalam dan studi kepustakaan dan mempelajari buku-buku referensi yang berkaitan dengan permasalahan penelitian. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah pengungkapan diri melalui media sosial instagram dalam fitur Instagram Story penggunanya berdasarkan konsep diri yang berbeda-beda sesuai dengan kebutuhan mereka dalam menggunakan Instagram Story sebagai tempat untuk bercerita. Namun, maksud dan tujuan mereka menggunakan Instagram Story sama yaitu ingin membagikan tentang keseharian, kegiatan, ataupun informasi. Dan sering kali Instagram Story juga di jadikan sebagai tempat untuk mengungkapkan apa yang mereka rasakan dan alami. Studi fenomenologi dalam penelitian ini merupakan suatu metode yang digunakan untuk mengupas fenomena pengguna Instagram Story. Kata Kunci : Media Sosial, Self Disclosure, Instagram Story
