Abstract
This study aims to determine the relationship between online self-presentation with subjective well-being users of Instagram social media at SMP X Jakarta. Respondents in this study were 170 junior high school students who were included in the selected Instagram users by stratified random sampling. This research instrument is a modified measuring instrument based on a theoretical framework proposed by Ed Diener and Robert Biswas-Diener (2009), namely Flourishing Scale consisting of 19 items with cognitive components. Second, the Scale of Positive and Negative Experience (SPANE) consists of 16 items to measure the components of positive affect and negative affect consisting of 10 items with Croncbach'S Alpha 0.878 and online self-presentation in this study using the Self Presentation on Facebook questionnaire (SPFBQ) adapted from the research of Michikyan, Dennis and Subramanyan (2014). The SPFBQ used by Michikyan et al (2014) consists of 17 items, then modified by adding 8 items so that the total becomes 25 items with Croncbach's Alpha per dimension, namely Real self of 0.610, Ideal self of 0.626 and False self of 0.681. Data analysis uses the mean (standard), standard deviation, and Spearmant Rank correlation techniques. The results of this study indicate a positive and significant relationship between online selfpresentation with subjective well being (r = 0.302; p = 0,000). This means that the higher the online self-presentation students have, the higher subjective well-being in themselves. Keywords: online self-presentation, subjective well being, students of SMP X. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara presentasi diri online dengan subjective well-being pengguna media sosial instagram di SMP X Jakarta. Responden penelitian ini sebanyak 170 siswa SMP yang masuk dalam pengguna instagram yang terpilih secara stratified random sampling. Instrumen penelitian ini alat ukur hasil modifikasi berdasarkan kerangka teoritis yang dikemukakan oleh Ed Diener dan Robert Biswas-Diener (2009) yaitu Flourishing Scale terdiri dari 19 item dengan komponen kognitif. Kedua, Scale of Positive and Negative Experience (SPANE) terdiri dari 16 item untuk mengukur komponen afek positif dan afek negatif terdiri dari 10 item dengan Croncbach’S Alpha 0,878 dan Presentasi diri online dalam penelitian ini menggunakan alat ukur Self Presentation on facebook questionnaire (SPFBQ) diadaptasi dari penelitian Michikyan, Dennis dan Subramanyan (2014). SPFBQ yang digunakan oleh Michikyan et al (2014) terdiri dari 17 item, selanjutnya dilakukan modifikasi dengan menambahkan 8 item sehingga total menjadi 25 item dengan Croncbach’S Alpha per dimensi yaitu Real self sebesar 0,610, Ideal self sebesar 0,626 dan False self sebesar 0,681. Analisis data menggunakan nilai rata-rata (mean), standar deviasi, dan teknik korelasi Spearmant Rank. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang positif dan signifikan antara presesntasi diri online dengan subjective well being (r = 0,302; p = 0,000) . Artinya semakin tinggi presentasi diri online yang dimiliki siswa, maka semakin tinggi subjective well being pada dirirnya.
