Abstract
The competitiveness of a school can be seen from school’s accreditation and number of students. One of the private schools in Tangerang which is accredited C, underwent decreasing number of students from 2014 to 2018. This study aims to analyze external and internal factors, and formulate appropriate strategies for improving the competitiveness of the school. The research instruments were data collection using FGD, open questionnaires, interviews and study of documents or literature. The data was collected and combined into questionnaires as indicators of competitiveness. Questionnaires were filled by informants, namely the owner of the foundation and the school’s principal. Data were analysed using IFAS or EFAS analysis and SWOT analysis. IFAS and EFAS analysis is used to analyze internal factors and external factors such as school strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. While the SWOT analysis is used in determining the right competitive strategy for schools. The result of the SWOT analysis shows that the school is in quadrant IV or in the position of WT (Weaknesses - Threats), which means the school is in a defensive condition. The recommended school planning competitive strategy, namely: survival strategies, schools must fix internal weaknesses by improving school performance and reputation by actively participating in activities or competitions held by external institutions or other schools. Schools hold unique events and competitions as differentiators from other similar schools in order to reach the market. Key Word: EFAS, IFAS, SWOT and strategy Daya saing suatu sekolah dapat dilihat dari akreditasi sekolah dan jumlah siswa. Salah satu sekolah swasta di kota Tangerang yang terakreditasi C, mengalami penurunan jumlah siswa dari tahun 2014 sd 2018. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa faktor eksternal dan internal, serta merumuskan strategi yang tepat bagi peningkatan daya saing sekolah tersebut. Instrumen penelitian pengumpulan data menggunakan FGD, kuesioner terbuka, wawancara serta studi dokumen atau literatur. Data tersebut dikumpulkan dan dikombinasikan ke dalam kuesioner sebagai indikator daya saing. Kuesioner diisi oleh informan yaitu pemilik yayasan dan kepala sekolah. Analisis data menggunakan analisis IFAS atau EFAS dan analisis SWOT. Analisis IFAS dan EFAS digunakan menganalisis faktor internal dan faktor eksternal seperti kekuatan, kelemahan, peluang, dan ancaman sekolah. Sedangkan analisis SWOT digunakan dalam menentukan strategi bersaing yang tepat untuk sekolah. Hasil dari analisis SWOT menunjukkan bahwa sekolah tersebut berada pada kuadran IV atau pada posisi WT (Weaknesses - Threats), yang artinya sekolah dalam kondisi bertahan. Strategi kompetitif perencanaan sekolah yang disarankan yaitu: strategi bertahan, sekolah harus membenahi kelemahan internal dengan memperbaiki prestasi dan reputasi sekolah dengan cara aktif ikut serta dalam kegiatan atau kompetisi yang diadakan oleh pihak luar sekolah. Sekolah mengadakan event dan kompetisi khas sebagai pembeda dari sekolah lain yang sejenis guna meraih market. Kata Kunci : EFAS , IFAS, SWOT dan strategi.
