Abstract
Generation Z, born between 1995 and 2010, is a group highly connected to social media, where platforms like Instagram play a significant role in their daily lives. However, this intense engagement with social media often leads to the phenomenon of Fear of Missing Out (FoMO), characterized by feelings of anxiety, worry, and fear of missing out on important moments experienced by others. Individuals experiencing FoMO tend to check social media more frequently to stay updated on the activities of friends or public figures. One contributing factor to FoMO is selfesteem, where individuals with low self-esteem are more vulnerable to FoMO and social comparison. This study aims to analyze the relationship between self-esteem and FoMO among Generation Z in the Jabodetabek area. The research sample consists of 363 Generation Z individuals who are active social media users. The sampling technique used is Non-Probability Sampling. Generasi Z, yang lahir antara tahun 1995 dan 2010, merupakan kelompok yang sangat terhubung dengan media sosial, di mana platform seperti Instagram memainkan peran penting dalam kehidupan sehari-hari mereka. Namun, keterlibatan yang intens di media sosial ini sering kali memunculkan fenomena Fear of Missing Out (FoMO), yaitu perasaan cemas, khawatir, dan takut tertinggal dari momen penting yang dialami oleh orang lain. Individu yang mengalami FoMO cenderung lebih sering memeriksa media sosial untuk tetap mengikuti perkembangan aktivitas teman atau figur publik. Salah satu faktor yang berkontribusi pada FoMO adalah self-esteem, di mana individu dengan self-esteem yang rendah lebih rentan terhadap perasaan FoMO dan perbandingan sosial. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara self-esteem dan FoMO pada Generasi Z di wilayah Jabodetabek. Sampel penelitian ini terdiri dari 363 individu Generasi Z yang aktif menggunakan media sosial. Teknik pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan Non-Probability Sampling.
