Abstract

ABSTRACT This research aims to analyze the influence of social comparison on social anxiety among adolescent social media users in Jakarta. This research uses quantitative methods by collecting data using questionnaires on teenagers aged 15-18 years in Jakarta who actively use social media. The results of this data collection found 364 respondents. Data analysis was carried out using linear regression to determine the influence between these variables. The Social Comparison variable was measured using the Iowa-Netherlands Comparison Orientation Measure (INCOM) measuring instrument developed by Buunk and Gibbons (1999) then the Social Anxiety variable used the SAS-A measuring instrument developed by La Greca and Lopez (1998). The results of the simple linear regression test obtained an R Square value of 0.465 (46.5%), which means there is a significant influence of social comparison on social anxiety ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh social comparison terhadap kecemasan sosial pada remaja pengguna media sosial di Jakarta. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan pengumpulan data menggunakan kuisisioner pada remaja berusia 15-18 tahun di Jakarta yang aktif menggunakan media sosial. Hasilnya, dari pengumpulan data tersebut didapati 364 responden. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan regresi linear untuk menentukan pengaruh antara variabel-variabel tersebut. Pengukuran variabel Social Comparison menggunakan alat ukur Iowa-Netherlands Comparison Orientation Measure (INCOM) yang dikembangkan oleh Buunk dan Gibbons (1999) kemudian variabel kecemasan sosial menggunakan alat ukur SAS-A yang di kembangkan oleh La Greca dan Lopez (1998). Hasil uji regresi linear sederhana diperoleh nilai R Square sebesar 0.465 (46,5%) yang berarti terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan dari social comparison terhadap kecemasan sosial.
