Abstract

Sign systems serve as communication media that function to facilitate individuals in finding their destinations. The presence of an effective signage system in a specific location can significantly enhance the comfort and accessibility of that place to be visited. According to Gibson in his book "The Wayfinding Handbook," indoor sign systems have four types: Orientation, Identification, Regulation, and Direction. Each of these four types of sign systems serves different functions. When conveying messages through sign systems, careful attention needs to be paid to design components. Colors that are easily visible, legible text, and understandable icons are important aspects to consider. In a sign system, the accuracy of information delivery is important. The ease of information understanding becomes a benchmark in creating a good sign system. Therefore, the author strives to identify and further process these design elements to carry out the design. Key Words: Sign System, Icon, Color, Font Sistem tanda, merupakan media komunikasi yang berfungsi untuk memudahkan seseorang dalam menemukan tempat yang dituju. Dengan adanya sistem tanda yang mumpuni pada suatu tempat, dapat berpengaruh pada kenyamanan tempat tersebut untuk dikunjungi. Menurut Gibsons dalam bukunya “The Wayfinding Handbook”, sistem tanda dalam ruang utamanya memiliki empat jenis yaitu Orientasi, Identifikasi, Regulasi, dan Direksi. Di mana ke empat jenis sistem tanda tersebut memiliki fungsi yang berbeda-beda juga. Dalam penyampaian pesan pada sistem tanda, komponen-komponen desain perlu diperhatikan dengan seksama. Warna yang dapat dengan mudah dilihat, tulisan yang dapat dibaca, dan ikon yang mudah dipahami. Dalam sebuah sistem tanda, ketepatan penyampaian informasi sangat penting. Mudahnya informasi untuk dapat dipahami menjadi tolak ukur dalam membuat sistem tanda yang baik. Maka dari itu, penulis berusaha untuk mengidentifikasi dan selanjutnya mengolah elemen-elemen desain tersebut guna melakukan perancangan. Kata kunci: Sistem tanda, Ikon, Warna, Font
