Abstract
The presence of Instagram social media as a new media has offered a variety of conveniences to support all kinds of needs and interests of each user. This is like what was done by Sara Neyrhiza as the owner of the Instagram account @neyrhiza who uses her Instagram social media account to present content about public speaking literacy. So the purpose of this study is to find out @neyrhiza as a public speaker uses Instagram social media as a medium for "public speaking" literacy. In supporting this research, there are 6 (six) previous studies with relevant topics. In addition, the theories used in this study include communication theory, new media, social media, the use of 4C Chris Heuer social media, literacy and public speaking. The paradigm in this study uses the constructivism paradigm. The research approach uses a qualitative approach with a case study research method. The collection technique uses non-participatory observation and in-depth interviews, as well as literature and documentation studies. This study focuses on how @neyrhiza as a public speaker uses Instagram social media as a medium for "public speaking" literacy. The results of this study indicate that the use of social media by Sara Neyrhiza as the owner of the Instagram account @neyrhiza has not been fully optimal. This is indicated by the less than optimal use of Instagram social media in the Collaboration and Connection aspects stated in Chris Heuer's 4C social media utilization theory which includes Context, Communication, Collaboration and Connection. Even so, the content on public speaking literacy uploaded to the Instagram account @neyrhiza has made it easier for her followers to deepen their knowledge of public speaking. Keywords: Utilization of Instagram Social Media, Public Speaking Literacy Hadirnya media sosial Intagram sebagai media baru telah menawarkan beragam macam kemudahan untuk menunjang segala jenis kebutuhan dan kepentingan setiap penggunanya. Hal ini seperti yang dilakukan oleh Sara Neyrhiza selaku pemilik akun Instagram @neyrhiza yang memanfaatkan akun media sosial Instagramnya untuk menyajikan konten-konten mengenai literasi public speaking. Sehingga tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui @neyrhiza selaku seorang public speaker memanfaatkan media sosial Instagram sebagai media literasi “public speaking.” Dalam menunjang penelitian ini, terdapat 6 (enam) penelitian terdahulu dengan topik relevan. Selain itu teori-teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini diantaranya adalah teori komunikasi, media baru, media sosial, pemanfaatan media sosial 4C Chris Heuer, literasi dan public speaking. Paradigma dalam penelitian ini menggunakan paradigma konstruktivisme. Pendekatan penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode penelitian studi kasus. Adapun teknik pengumpulan menggunakan observasi non-partisipatif dan wawancara mendalam, serta studi literatur dan dokumentasi. Penelitian ini berfokus pada bagaimana @neyrhiza selaku seorang public speaker memanfaatkan media sosial Instagram sebagai media literasi “public speaking.” Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwasannya pemanfaatan media sosial yang dilakukan oleh Sara Neyrhiza selaku pemilik akun Instagram @neyrhiza belum sepenuhnya optimal. Hal ini ditandai dengan belum maksimalnya pemanfaatan media sosial Instagram pada aspek Collaboration dan Connection yang dikemukakan dalam teori pemanfaatan media sosial 4C Chris Heuer yang meliputi Context, Communication, Collaboration dan Connection. Meski begitu, konten-konten mengenai literasi public speaking yang di unggah pada akun Instagram @neyrhiza telah memudahkan para follower-nya untuk memperdalam ilmu public speaking.
