Abstract

The concept of beauty that is developing in Indonesian culture today is a concept of beauty that has been constructed by the media. Beautiful is a woman who has pure white skin, long black hair, a slim body and a smooth face. Even though the concept of beauty no longer relies on a relative concept but rather a cultural and geographical one. The emergence of this stereotype causes women to lose self-confidence (self-esteem) in everyday life to give rise to problems such as cases body shaming, even bullying which can harm mental health. Moving on from these issues, musicians Yura Yunita made the Tutur Batin music video using female models with various physical appearances, most of which people assume are far from beauty standards, to campaign to the public that imperfections should be celebrated as they are. The aim of this research is to understand and uncover the meaning behind the music video Tutur Batin by Yura Yunita which tells the story of the depiction of several women with their problems in everyday life. In the video, Yura builds a representation of beauty as an attitude of self-acceptance through various forms of physical appearance of various female models. This researcher uses qualitative methods with a critical paradigm as a research approach and uses Roland Barthes semiotic analysis methodology which consists of denotative meaning, connotative meaning and myth. The object of this research is a depiction of women's representation of self-acceptance regarding beauty in the music video Tutur Batin by Yura Yunita. Results from research shows that the message of the music video "Tutur Batin" by Yura Yunita tries to invite women to go beyond the myths about beauty that have been shackling women by deconstructing the myth of beauty by conveying the message of self-love to foster a sense of gratitude for one's condition, foster a sense of love for oneself. yourself, giving enthusiasm and increasing self-appreciation so as to create a sense of self-confidence and give rise to another meaning or concept of "beautiful", which is called inner beauty. In her song, Yura Yunita wants to invite women to accept their imperfections and celebrate them together. The song "Tutur Batin" is dedicated to women, so that they can accept all their advantages and disadvantages until they feel satisfied with themselves, their qualities, talents and limitations so that they dare to make peace and are able to go through the process of self-acceptance. Keywords: Representation, beauty, self-acceptance, Roland Barthes Semiotics, Music Videos Konsep cantik yang berkembang dalam kebudayaan masyarakat Indonesia saat ini adalah konsep cantik yang telah dikonstruksi oleh media. Sebagaimana cantik adalah perempuan yang memiliki kulit putih bersih, rambut hitam panjang, memiliki tubuh yang langsing, dan wajah yang mulus. Padahal konsep cantik tidak lagi bersandar pada konsep yang relatif melainkan kultural dan geografis. Munculnya stereotip ini mengakibatkan perempuan kehilangan rasa percaya diri (self-esteem) dalam kehidupan sehari-hari hingga memunculkan masalah seperti kasus body shaming, bahkan bullying yang bisa mengganggu kesehatan mental. Bergerak dari isu tesebut, musisi Yura Yunita membuat video musik Tutur Batin menggunakan model wanita dengan berbagai penampilan fisik yang kebanyakan dari asumsi orang-orang jauh dari standard kecantikan, untuk mengkampanyekan kepada publik bahwa ketidaksempurnaan harus dirayakan apa adanya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memahami dan membongkar makna yang ada dibalik Video musik Tutur Batin karya Yura Yunita yang menceritakan tentang penggambaran beberapa perempuan dengan permasalahannya di kehidupan sehari-hari. Dalam video tersebut, Yura membangun representasi cantik sebagai sikap dari penerimaan diri melalui berbagai bentuk penampilan fisik model-model Wanita yang beragam. Peneliti ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan paradigma kritis sebagai pendekatan penelitian dan menggunakan metodologi analisis semiotika Roland Barthes yang terdiri dari makna denotatif, makna konotatif, dan mitos. Objek dari penelitian ini adalah penggambaran representasi penerimaan diri pada perempuan tentang cantik dalam video musik Tutur Batin karya Yura Yunita. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pesan dari Video musik “Tutur Batin” karya Yura Yunita berusaha mengajak perempuan untuk melampaui mitos tentang cantik yang selama ini membelenggu kaum Perempuan dengan cara mendekonstruksi mitos cantik dengan menyampaikan pesan selflove untuk menumbuhkan rasa syukur terhadap keadaan diri sendiri, menumbuhkan rasa cinta terhadap diri sendiri, memberikan semangat dan meningkatkan apresiasi terhadap diri sendiri sehingga terciptalah rasa percaya diri dan memunculkan makna atau konsep “cantik” lain, yang disebut inner beauty. Dalam lagunya, Yura Yunita ingin mengajak perempuan untuk menerima ketidaksempurnaan yang dimiliki dan merayakannya bersama-sama. Lagu “Tutur Batin” didedikasikan untuk kaum perempuan, agar dapat menerima segala kelebihan dan kekurangan hingga merasa puas dengan diri sendiri, kualitas, bakat, dan keterbatasan diri sehingga berani berdamai dan mampu melewati proses penerimaan diri.
