Abstract
This research aims to study the mediating role of job satisfaction on the influences of work discipline and motivation towards the employee performance at Research and Development Division, at the Ministry of Transportation Republic of Indonesia. This research used a quantitative approach. The research populations were all 160 employees of the Research and Development Division at the Ministry of Transportation Republic of Indonesia. 115 respondents were taken as samples using the Slovin’s formulae with 5% errors tolerance. Data were collected using convenience method and were analyzed using SEM-PLS with the help of SmartPLS version 3.2.8 software for Windows. The results of this research showed that both work discipline and employee motivation positively and significantly influenced employee performance. Meanwhile, job satisfaction positively and significantly mediated the influences of either work discipline and employee motivation on employee performance. The direct influences of work discipline and employee motivations were higher than their indirect influences. Overall, the influence of employee motivation was higher than the influence of work discipline on employee performance. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari peran mediasi kepuasan kerja terhadap pengaruh disiplin kerja dan motivasi terhadap kinerja pegawai Badan Penelitian dan Pengembangan Kementerian Perhubungan Republik Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif. Populasi penelitian ini berjumlah 160 yang merupakan seluruh pegawai Bagian Penelitian dan Pengembangan Kementerian Perhubungan Republik Indonesia. 115 responden diambil sebagai sampel dengan menggunakan rumus Slovin dengan toleransi kesalahan 5%. Data dikumpulkan dengan metode convenience dan dianalisis menggunakan SEM-PLS dengan bantuan software SmartPLS versi 3.2.8 for Windows. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa disiplin kerja dan motivasi pegawai berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap kinerja pegawai. Sedangkan kepuasan kerja memediasi secara positif dan signifikan pengaruh disiplin kerja dan motivasi pegawai terhadap kinerja pegawai. Pengaruh langsung disiplin kerja dan motivasi pegawai lebih tinggi daripada pengaruh tidak langsungnya. Secara keseluruhan pengaruh motivasi pegawai lebih tinggi daripada pengaruh disiplin kerja terhadap kinerja pegawai. Kata kunci: Disiplin kerja, motivasi pegawai, kepuasan kerja, dan kinerja pegawai.
