Abstract

Boarding houses or often called kos-kosan is one of the needs for students who are studying in other areas from outside their hometown, and boarding houses are the main requirement. Boarding houses generally have a small size, not like a house in general. In general, living in a boarding house are students or workers. The activities of students living in this place are college and office work. Its many activities outside make them not pay attention to their belongings. The need for something practical and saving space in the boarding area is in the spotlight. Many items in the size of a small boarding room become a problem. The main furniture that is usually in a boarding house is a cupboard and desk. Cabinets are one of the furniture products that are usually relatively large in size which can be used to store various items. While the table is a furniture or furniture that has a flat surface and legs as a buffer, the shapes and functions vary. Cabinets and tables usually have a large size depending on user needs. Innovative design is needed for furniture that is flexible and multifunctional so that it does not take up space in a small size area and is also easy to move. Plywood / multiplex material that is light, strong and environmentally friendly is one of the right choices for furniture materials. The pull, push and fold system will be an effective system to save space. The finishing line with HPL (High Pressure Laminated) will strengthen the product as well as beautify in terms of aesthetics with a choice of colors and motifs that look natural. Keywords: Boarding houses, cabinets, tables, multifunction Rumah kos atau sering juga disebut dengan kos-kosan merupakan salah satu kebutuhan bagi para mahasiswa yang sedang menempuh ilmu di daerah lain dari luar kampung halaman, dan rumah kos merupakan kebutuhan utama. Rumah kosan pada umumnya memiliki ukuran yang kecil, tidak seperti rumah pada umumnya. Pada umumnya yang tinggal di rumah kosan adalah mahasiswa atau pekerja. Kegiatan mahasiswa yang tinggal di tempat ini adalah kuliah dan juga kerja kantoran. Aktifitasnya yang banyak di luar membuat mereka tidak memperhatikan barang-barangnya di tempat tinggal. Kebutuhan akan suatu hal yang praktis dan menghemat ruang pada area kosan menjadi sorotan. Barang yang banyak di dalam ukuran ruang kosan yang kecil menjadi permasalahan. Furniture utama yang biasa ada dalam kosan adalah lemari dan meja. Lemari merupakan salah satu produk mebel yang biasanya berukuran relatif besar yang dapat digunakan untuk menyimpan aneka barang. Sedangkan meja adalah sebuah mebel atau perabotan yang memiliki permukaan datar dan kaki-kaki sebagai penyangga, yang bentuk dan fungsinya bermacam-macam. Lemari dan meja biasanya memiliki ukuran yang besar tergantung kebutuhan penggunanya. Dibutuhkan rancangan desain yang inovatif untuk furniture yang fleksibel dan multifungsi sehingga tidak memakan ruang pada area ukuran kecil dan juga mudah untuk dipindahkan. Material kayu plywood / multiplek yang ringan, kuat dan ramah lingkungan menjadi salah satu pilihan yang tepat untuk material furniture. Sistem tarik, dorong dan lipat akan menjadi sistem yang efektif untuk menghemat area ruangan. Melapisi finishing dengan HPL (High Pressure Laminated) akan memperkokoh produk serta memperindah dari segi estetika dengan pilihan warna dan motif yang terlihat natural.
