Abstract

Company always strives to control inventory and ensure inventory turnover can run smoothly so as to reduce inventory costs and increase sales. However, inventories cannot be reduced as low as possible because there is a risk that production can be shortage material and then risk of losing sales. It needs to set good inventory planning so that total inventory costs are more efficient. This research discusses about inventory issues in the company producing AC (Air Conditioner). The purpose of this research is to analyze using the probabilistic EOQ method in inventory control and planning to reduce the total inventory costs of company. Method of EOQ (Economic Order Quantity) probabilistic is used because of stochastic demand conditions in every month. The focus of this research is on imported materials, such as compressor, fan motor and copper tube. Those three materials contribute the highest value of purchase and inventory. Iteration is used in this research to get the optimum EOQ and ROP (Reorder Point) values for each order. Safety stock is also calculated to anticipate uncertain conditions. This research show that using of probabilistic EOQ method results reduction of total inventory costs by 8.2% for compressor, 4.2% for fan motors and 2.2% for cooper tubes.
