Abstract
The political phenomenon in Indonesia reflects the complex dynamics of elite relations, one of which can be seen in the interaction between Prabowo Subianto and Megawati Soekarnoputri. The fluctuating relationship between the two figures, ranging from political coalition, rivalry in presidential elections, to their renewed encounter after Prabowo Subianto assumed the presidency, becomes an interesting phenomenon to analyze within the context of political communication. This study aims to analyze the construction of the meaning of “Political Friends” as presented in a video uploaded on Prabowo Subianto’s YouTube channel during the commemoration of Pancasila Day on June 2, 2025. This research employs a qualitative approach with a critical paradigm and Roland Barthes’ semiotic theory to interpret the visual and verbal signs that frame the relationship between the two political figures. The research method used is a qualitative case study, with text and image analysis of the video as the main unit of analysis. The analysis is conducted through three levels of meaning, namely denotation, connotation, and myth, to understand how the narrative of “Political Friends” is constructed as a representation of political relations in the public sphere. The findings show that the video constructs an impression of intimacy, respect, and strategic collaboration between political leaders, although PDI Perjuangan structurally remains outside the cabinet. Through the visual and verbal signs presented, the term “Political Friends” is constructed as a symbol of unity, elite reconciliation, political stability, and harmonious political relations within the framework of Pancasila values. Keywords: Political Friends, Roland Barthes Semiotics, Prabowo Subianto, Megawati Soekarnoputri Fenomena politik Indonesia menunjukkan dinamika hubungan antarelite yang kompleks, salah satunya terlihat pada interaksi antara Prabowo Subianto dan Megawati Soekarnoputri. Hubungan yang fluktuatif antara kedua tokoh ini, mulai dari koalisi, rivalitas dalam pemilihan presiden, hingga pertemuan kembali setelah Prabowo Subianto menjabat sebagai presiden, menjadi fenomena menarik untuk dianalisis dalam konteks komunikasi politik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis konstruksi ideologis makna “Sahabat Politik” yang dibangun melalui unggahan video di kanal YouTube Prabowo Subianto pada Peringatan Hari Lahir Pancasila, 2 Juni 2025. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan paradigma kritis dan teori semiotika Roland Barthes untuk menafsirkan tanda-tanda visual dan verbal yang membingkai hubungan kedua tokoh. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi kasus kualitatif, dengan analisis teks dan gambar pada video sebagai unit analisis utama. Analisis dilakukan melalui tiga tingkatan makna, yaitu denotasi, konotasi, dan mitos, untuk memahami bagaimana narasi “Sahabat Politik” dikonstruksi sebagai representasi hubungan politik di ruang publik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa video tersebut mengonstruksi kesan keintiman, penghormatan, dan kolaborasi strategis antarpemimpin, meskipun secara struktural PDI Perjuangan tetap berada di luar kabinet. Melalui tanda visual dan verbal yang ditampilkan, istilah “Sahabat Politik” dikonstruksi sebagai simbol persatuan, rekonsiliasi elite, stabilitas politik, dan keharmonisan hubungan politik dalam bingkai nilai Pancasila.
