Abstract
This study aims to describe the perception of Indonesian National Team supporters on social media, specifically Instagram, regarding PSSI's policy to replace coach Shin Tae-yong with Patrick Kluivert. This phenomenon has drawn significant public attention due to the stark contrast between tangible achievements established and the informational uncertainty provided by the federation. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach grounded in the Theory of Perception by Robbins and Judge, which encompasses the stages of stimulation, organization, and interpretation-evaluation. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with eight informants who are active followers of the @timnasindonesia Instagram account. The results indicate that supporter perceptions are homogeneous, manifesting in a collective rejection of the policy. In the stimulation and organization stages, supporters have categorized Shin Tae-yong as the "gold standard" for the progress of Indonesian football; consequently, the appointment of Patrick Kluivert is evaluated as a regression. Furthermore, the study identifies a dysfunction in PSSI’s organizational communication, characterized by a lack of information transparency and poor decision-making timing. These factors have reinforced negative speculations and diminished the federation's credibility in the eyes of digital supporters. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan persepsi suporter Timnas Indonesia di media sosial Instagram terhadap kebijakan PSSI dalam mengganti pelatih Shin Tae-yong dengan Patrick Kluivert. Fenomena ini menarik perhatian publik karena adanya kontras antara prestasi nyata yang telah dibangun dengan ketidakpastian informasi dari pihak federasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan landasan Teori Persepsi dari Robbins dan Judge, yang mencakup tahap stimulasi, pengelompokan (organization), serta interpretasi-evaluasi. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam dengan delapan informan yang merupakan pengikut akun Instagram @timnasindonesia. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persepsi suporter bersifat homogen dalam bentuk penolakan. Pada tahap stimulasi dan pengelompokan, suporter telah menempatkan Shin Taeyong sebagai standar emas kemajuan sepak bola Indonesia, sehingga penunjukan Patrick Kluivert dievaluasi sebagai sebuah kemunduran. Selain itu, ditemukan adanya disfungsi komunikasi organisasi PSSI yang ditandai dengan ketidakterbukaan informasi dan pemilihan timing keputusan yang tidak tepat, yang justru memperkuat spekulasi negatif dan menurunkan kredibilitas federasi di mata suporter digital.
