Abstract
This study aims to determine the relationship between attachment and social media escapism in adolescents. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational method. The measurement tools used are the Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment (IPPA) to measure attachment to mothers, fathers, and peers, and the Escapism Scale to measure the dimensions of self-suppression and selfexpansion in social media escapism, with a total of 144 high school students selected using accidental sampling techniques. The data were analyzed using Spearman's correlation test. The results showed that the level of social media escapism among adolescents was in the high category. The hypothesis test results showed that only peer attachment with the self-suppression dimension had a significant negative correlation. This means that the higher the attachment of adolescents to their peers, the lower the tendency to use social media as a means of escape that suppresses negative emotions. Meanwhile, attachment to mothers and fathers did not show a significant relationship in either the self-suppression or selfexpansion dimensions. Based on the gender difference test, there was no significant difference in the level of social media escapism between males and females. These findings indicate that peer attachment plays a more dominant role than parental attachment in relation to social media escapism tendencies among high school students Keywords: attachment, social media escapism, adolescent Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara attachment dengan social media escapism pada remaja.
