Abstract
Film as a mass communication medium does not merely function as entertainment, but also as a tool for producing meaning through ideology, symbols, and signs. Through narrative and visual elements, film can symbolically represent social and political issues around the world, including complex international conflicts such as the Israel–Palestine conflict. This study examines the representation of ideology and social issues related to the Israel–Palestine conflict in the film Superman (2025). The analysis focuses on how the film portrays conflict, power relations and oppression, as well as humanitarian values communicated through signs and symbols. The research employs a qualitative method using a critical paradigm based on Roland Barthes’ semiotic approach. Three layers of meaning denotation, connotation, and myth are used to analyze both verbal and non-verbal signs presented in selected scenes. The findings indicate that Superman (2025) represents the Israel–Palestine conflict through an imaginary battle between the fictional states of Boravia and Jarhanpur. This depiction serves as a symbolic representation of the relationship between the oppressed and the oppressor. The film is not neutral; rather, it conveys particular ideologies through its narrative and visual elements, thereby shaping public understanding of international conflicts. Keywords: Roland Barthes’ semiotics, Superman film, ideology, and the Israel Palestine con Film sebagai media komunikasi massa tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai media hiburan, tetapi juga sebagai alat untuk menciptakan makna dengan ideologi, simbol, dan tanda. Film dapat secara simbolik menggambarkan masalah sosial dan politik di seluruh dunia, termasuk konflik internasional yang kompleks seperti konflik Israel-Palestina, melalui narasi dan visual. Penelitian ini menyelidiki representasi ideologi dan masalah sosial konflik Israel-Palestina dalam film Superman (2025). Kajian ini berkonsentrasi pada cara film menggambarkan konflik, hubungan kekuasaan dan ketertindasan, serta nilai kemanusiaan yang dikomunikasikan melalui tanda dan simbol. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif, menggunakan paradigma kritis dari semiotika Roland Barthes. Denotasi, konotasi, dan mitos adalah tiga lapisan makna yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini untuk menyelidiki tanda-tanda yang diucapkan dan tidak diucapkan selama adegan tertentu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa film Superman (2025) menggambarkan konflik Israel-Palestina melalui pertempuran imajiner antara negara Boravia dan Jarhanpur. Ini digunakan sebagai simbol hubungan antara pihak yang tertindas dan pihak yang tertindas. Film ini tidak netral; sebaliknya, ia menghidupkan ideologi tertentu melalui narasi dan visualnya, membantu masyarakat memahami konflik internasional.
