Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of work motivation on employee performance at PT. XYZ. Work motivation in this research was measured using the Self-Determination Theory (Gagné et al., 2010), while employee performance was assessed based on the indicators developed by Koopmans et al. (2014). The research employed a quantitative correlational method with a total of 116 respondents selected through purposive sampling. The instruments used were work motivation and employee performance questionnaires, both of which had been tested for validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using the Pearson Product Moment correlation test with the assistance of SPSS version 26. The results revealed a positive and significant relationship between work motivation and employee performance, with a correlation coefficient (r) = 0.654 and significance value (p) = 0.000 (p < 0.05). This indicates that the higher the employees’ work motivation, the better their performance. Therefore, the research hypothesis stating that there is a relationship between work motivation and employee performance is accepted. This study implies that companies should continuously enhance employees’ work motivation, both intrinsically and extrinsically, in order to achieve optimal performance outcomes. Keyword : Work motivation, employee performance Latar Belakang penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Pengaruh motivasi kerja dan kinerja karyawan pada PT. XYZ. Motivasi kerja dalam penelitian ini diukur menggunakan teori Self-Determination Theory (Gagné et al., 2010), sedangkan kinerja karyawan diukur berdasarkan indikator yang dikembangkan oleh Koopmans et al. (2014). Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif korelasional dengan jumlah responden sebanyak 116 karyawan yang dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Instrumen penelitian berupa kuesioner motivasi kerja dan kinerja karyawan yang telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan uji korelasi Pearson Product Moment dengan bantuan SPSS versi 26. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan positif dan signifikan antara motivasi kerja dan kinerja karyawan dengan nilai koefisien korelasi ® = 0,654 dan signifikansi (p) = 0,000 (p < 0,05). Hal ini berarti semakin tinggi motivasi kerja yang dimiliki karyawan, maka semakin tinggi pula kinerja yang ditunjukkan. Dengan demikian, hipotesis penelitian yang menyatakan terdapat hubungan antara motivasi kerja dan kinerja karyawan dapat diterima. Penelitian ini memberikan implikasi bahwa Perusahaan perlu terus meningkatkan motivasi kerja karyawan, baik melalui dukungan instrinsik maupun ekstrinsik, agar kinerja yang dihasilkan semakin optimal.
