Abstract
In this modern era, representations of parenting in the media, particularly films, have become a means of influencing public understanding of ideal parenting styles. This study aims to determine and analyze how parenting styles are portrayed in the film "Dua Hati Biru." The theories used in this study include the concepts of parenting, representation, film, verbal and nonverbal communication, and Ferdinand de Saussure's semiotics. This research employed a qualitative approach and semiotic analysis methods. The object of study was the film "Dua Hati Biru," focusing on scenes depicting interactions between parents and children, as well as conversations and visual symbols reflecting parenting styles. Data collection techniques included observation of film scenes, visual documentation, and audio. The results show that the film "Dua Hati Biru" represents parenting as a complex and dynamic process, fraught with emotional challenges and interplay of social roles. The roles of fathers and mothers are portrayed not only in a traditional context but also emphasize the importance of collaboration, empathy, and communication in raising children. Visual signs such as facial expressions, body gestures, spatial arrangement, and dialogue between characters are important parts of conveying these messages. Di era modern ini, representasi parenting dalam media, khususnya film, menjadi salah satu sarana yang dapat memengaruhi pemahaman masyarakat tentang pola pengasuhan yang ideal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis bagaimana representasi parenting atau pola pengasuhan orang tua digambarkan dalam film Dua Hati Biru. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah konsep parenting, representasi, film, komunikasi verbal dan nonverbal dan semiotika Ferdinand de Saussure. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan menggunakan metode analisis semiotika. Objek kajian dalam penelitian ini adalah film Dua Hati Biru, dengan fokus pada adegan-adegan yang menampilkan interaksi antara orang tua dan anak, serta percakapan dan simbol-simbol visual yang mencerminkan pola pengasuhan. Teknik pengumpulan data dikumpulkan melalui observasi terhadap adegan film, dokumentasi visual, dan audio. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa film Dua Hati Biru merepresentasikan parenting sebagai proses yang kompleks dan dinamis, penuh dengan tantangan emosional dan peran sosial yang saling memengaruhi. Peran ayah dan ibu digambarkan tidak hanya dalam konteks tradisional, tetapi juga menyoroti pentingnya kolaborasi, empati, dan komunikasi dalam membesarkan anak. Tandatanda visual seperti ekspresi wajah, gesture tubuh, pengaturan ruang, dan dialog antar tokoh menjadi bagian penting dalam menyampaikan pesan-pesan tersebut.
