Abstract
A documentary film is a form of audiovisual work that records and presents real events based on accurate facts. By combining sound and visual elements, documentary films become an effective and comprehensive learning medium for conveying important information to the public. This applied final project is realized in the form of a documentary film that aims to represent a real activity through an engaging storytelling. The film, titled "Banjarnegara punya Poci, Tegal punya nama," chronicles the daily lives of ceramic craftsmen in Klampok Village, Banjarnegara, Central Java, as they produce high-quality teapots. Thanks to various innovations and the application of semi-modern techniques, the craftsmen are able to maintain their existence and cultural heritage to this day. The process of making this documentary film involved three main stages: pre-production, production, and post-production. During the production process, the author acted as director, fully responsible for the visualization of the story, which explores the craftsmen's efforts and innovations in maintaining tradition amidst the challenges of modernization. To support a smooth creative process, the author established solid communication with the entire production team to produce an optimal documentary. The purpose of this film is to provide a deeper understanding of the profession of teapot craftsmen and their struggles in facing the ever-evolving modern era. Sayangnya, kurangnya riset serta penyusunan narasi yang lemah seringkali membuat dokumenter kehilangan nilai edukatif dan emosional. Hal ini menjadi tantangan utama dalam menjaga keaslian informasi serta membangun keterlibatan penonton secara mendalam. Dokumenter Ang Dikin Pembatik Trusmi Cirebon menghadirkan kisah inspiratif seorang pembatik yang mewarisi dan melestarikan batik Trusmi, warisan budaya khas Cirebon. Film ini tidak hanya menampilkan proses membatik, tetapi juga menggambarkan nilai filosofis motif batik dan dedikasi keluarga dalam menjaga tradisi di tengah arus modernisasi. Sebagai editor, penulis menghadapi tantangan dalam menyusun narasi dari footage yang beragam, menyamakan tone warna dari kamera berbeda, mengurangi noise audio, serta membangun alur cerita yang emosional. Editor juga harus memastikan kesinambungan visual dan kekuatan pesan tetap terjaga sepanjang film. Untuk mengatasi tantangan tersebut, digunakan teknik editing seperti J-cut, L-cut, color grading, dan penambahan musik latar yang relevan. Kolaborasi intensif dengan sutradara dan tim produksi menjadi kunci dalam membentuk dokumenter yang tidak hanya informatif, tetapi juga mampu membangkitkan kesadaran generasi muda akan pentingnya melestarikan budaya bangsa.
