Abstract
This study aims to examine the relationship between vegetarian eating motivation and quality of life among teachers and staff at School X who follow a vegetarian diet. Vegetarian motivation was measured using the Vegetarian Eating Motives Inventory Plus (VEMI+), which consists of seven motivational dimensions. Quality of life was assessed using the WHOQOL-BREF instrument, which includes four main domains. Data was analyzed using Pearson correlation tests. The results showed no significant relationship between overall vegetarian eating motivation and perceived quality of life (r = 0.260; p = 0.078). Further analysis also revealed no statistically significant correlation between each motivation dimension and total quality of life scores. Similarly, the correlation between overall vegetarian motivation and each domain of quality of life indicated weak and nonsignificant associations. These findings suggest that vegetarian eating motivation, both as a whole and by individual dimensions, does not substantially affect participants’ perception of quality of life. This indicates that quality of life is influenced by a variety of factors beyond dietary motivation, such as psychosocial conditions, social environment, and emotional stability. Keywords: vegetarian eating motivation, quality of life, VEMI+, WHOQOL-BREF, psychological well-being Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara motivasi makan vegetarian dan kualitas hidup pada guru dan karyawan di Sekolah X yang menerapkan pola makan vegetarian. Motivasi makan vegetarian diukur menggunakan instrumen VEMI+ (Vegetarian Eating Motives Inventory Plus) yang mencakup tujuh dimensi motivasi, sedangkan kualitas hidup diukur menggunakan WHOQOL-BREF yang mencakup empat domain utama. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan uji korelasi Pearson. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara motivasi makan vegetarian secara keseluruhan dengan persepsi kualitas hidup (r = 0,260; p = 0,078). Analisis lebih lanjut terhadap hubungan antar dimensi motivasi makan dengan total skor kualitas hidup juga tidak menunjukkan signifikansi statistik. Demikian pula, korelasi antara total skor motivasi makan vegetarian dan masing-masing dimensi kualitas hidup menunjukkan kekuatan hubungan yang lemah dan tidak signifikan. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa motivasi makan vegetarian, baik secara keseluruhan maupun pada tiap dimensinya, belum menunjukkan pengaruh yang berarti terhadap persepsi kualitas hidup subjek penelitian ini. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa kualitas hidup dipengaruhi oleh berbagai faktor lain di luar motivasi pola makan, seperti kondisi psikososial, lingkungan sosial, dan stabilitas emosi.
