Abstract

The phenomenon of digital literacy has brought significant changes to communication patterns on social media, particularly within the community of Alternative Universe (AU) fiction readers on platform X. AU is a subgenre of fanfiction that allows fans to create alternative narratives by modifying original characters and story settings. This study aims to analyze the communication patterns of AU readers on social media X using a descriptive qualitative approach. Through observation and analysis of user interactions, it was found that the communication patterns within the AU community are dominated by features such as replies, quote tweets, polls, and the use of hashtags to organize and expand the reach of stories. Reader interactions not only serve as a form of appreciation for the authors but also influence the development of storylines through active discussions and feedback provided. Furthermore, this study shows that the AU community on X is not merely a space for passive consumption but also a platform for readers to participate in the creative process. The findings of this research provide insights into how social media facilitates digital interactions within literacy communities and its implications for online communication dynamics. Fenomena literasi digital telah membawa perubahan signifikan dalam pola komunikasi di media sosial, khususnya dalam komunitas pembaca fiksi Alternative Universe (AU) di platform X. AU merupakan subgenre dalam fanfiction yang memungkinkan penggemar untuk menciptakan narasi alternatif dengan memodifikasi karakter dan latar cerita asli. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pola komunikasi pembaca AU di media sosial X dengan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Melalui observasi dan analisis interaksi pengguna, ditemukan bahwa pola komunikasi dalam komunitas AU didominasi oleh fitur-fitur seperti reply, quote tweet, polling, serta pemanfaatan hashtag untuk mengorganisir dan memperluas jangkauan cerita. Interaksi pembaca tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai bentuk apresiasi terhadap penulis, tetapi juga mempengaruhi pengembangan alur cerita melalui diskusi aktif dan masukan yang diberikan. Selain itu, studi ini menunjukkan bahwa komunitas AU di X tidak hanya menjadi ruang konsumsi pasif, tetapi juga wadah bagi pembaca untuk berpartisipasi dalam proses kreatif. Temuan penelitian ini memberikan wawasan tentang bagaimana media sosial memfasilitasi interaksi digital dalam komunitas literasi dan implikasinya terhadap dinamika komunikasi online.
