Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of TikTok content exposure intensity on selfidentification in Generation Z. The phenomenon of self-diagnosis is increasingly common among Generation Z who actively use social media, especially TikTok, as the main source of mental health information. TikTok, with an algorithm that can adjust user preferences, has become a significant medium in shaping understanding and perceptions of mental health. However, intensive exposure to such content can trigger users' tendencies to identify themselves with certain mental health symptoms without professional consultation. This study uses a quantitative method with multiple linear regression analysis. The respondents in the study were 143 individuals from Generation Z who live in the Jabodetabek area. The results of the study show that the intensity of TikTok use has a significant effect on selfidentification in Generation Z. This finding provides important implications for mental health literacy in the digital era, as well as being a reference for health practitioners in designing appropriate interventions for young age groups.
