Abstract
In Indonesia, engraving is now on the brink of extinction, with only one craftsman remaining to preserve this heritage. Pak Mujirun, a master engraver who has dedicated his life to the art of metal engraving for decades, stands as the last symbol of a tradition passed down through generations. This Applied Final Project aims to visualize Pak Mujirun's life journey through a documentary film titled " Smooth Hands Behind Money." The film portrays Pak Mujirun's real-life story, from his recruitment as a member of Peruri to becoming a master engraver in the company. The production process faced technical challenges, such as a small and confined workspace, which was overcome by using a 35mm lens to maximize composition. The documentary was structured through three main phases—preproduction, production, and post-production—utilizing supporting equipment such as cameras, tripods, stabilizers, and clip-on microphones. Various shot types, camera angles, camera movements, and compositions were employed to create diverse and effective visuals in delivering information. This work is presented in a biographical documentary format, highlighting Pak Mujirun’s dedication and struggle as the last guardian of Indonesian engraving. Through this documentary, the author hopes to enhance appreciation for traditional arts, convey information engagingly, and inspire younger generations to preserve cultural heritage. Pak Mujirun, seorang master engraving yang telah mengabdikan hidupnya pada seni ukir logam selama puluhan tahun, menjadi simbol terakhir dari tradisi yang diwariskan secara turuntemurun. Tugas Akhir Aplikatif ini bertujuan untuk memvisualisasikan perjalanan hidup Pak Mujirun melalui film dokumenter berjudul "Tangan Halus di Balik Fulus". Film ini menggambarkan kisah nyata Pak Mujirun, mulai dari rekrutmen sebagai anggota Peruri hingga menjadi maestro engraving di perusahaan tersebut. Proses produksi menghadapi tantangan teknis, seperti ruangan yang kecil dan terbatas, yang diatasi dengan penggunaan lensa 35mm untuk menciptakan komposisi yang maksimal. Dokumenter ini disusun melalui tiga tahapan utama— pra-produksi, produksi, dan pasca-produksi—dengan memanfaatkan alat pendukung seperti kamera, tripod, stabilizer, dan clip-on microphone. Teknik pengambilan gambar yang melibatkan tipe shot, sudut kamera, pergerakan kamera, dan komposisi digunakan untuk menciptakan visual yang bervariasi dan efektif dalam menyampaikan informasi. Karya ini disajikan dalam format dokumenter biografi, mengangkat dedikasi dan perjuangan Pak Mujirun sebagai penjaga terakhir engraving Indonesia. Melalui dokumenter ini, penulis berharap dapat meningkatkan apresiasi terhadap seni tradisional, menyampaikan informasi secara menarik, dan menginspirasi generasi muda untuk melestarikan warisan budaya.
