Abstract
The development of digital technology has brought significant changes in the way students access and enjoy literacy content, one of which is through the Wattpad media. This study aims to determine the extent to which Wattpad media influence the literacy interests of students at the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Mercu Buana University. This study uses an explanatory quantitative approach involving 76 respondents calculated using the Slovin formula. The sampling technique used is the simple random sampling method.Data was obtained through a questionnaire designed to measure the influence of Wattpad usage on students' literacy interest. This study uses the Uses and Effects theory, which emphasizes the active role of media users. The results indicate that the use of Wattpad Media has a significant influence on literacy interest, with a coefficient of determination of 71.06% and a variable relationship of 0.843 or 84.3%. In addition, if the usage level of Wattpad Media increases, the literacy interest will increase by 0.576. The most influential indicators are the ease of using the Library feature to save and manage reading lists, as well as the ease of the Search Feature in finding favorite stories and authors. The uniqueness of Wattpad lies in the wide variety of genres, accessibility for novice writers, interactive content format, and the relevance of stories to readers' lives. This shows that Wattpad has the potential to be an effective and relevant medium to support increasing students' literacy interests. Keywords: Wattpad Media, Literacy Interest, Uses and Effects Theory Perkembangan teknologi digital telah membawa perubahan signifikan dalam cara mahasiswa mengakses dan menikmati konten literasi, salah satunya melalui media Wattpad. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sejauh mana pengaruh media Wattpad terhadap minat literasi mahasiswa Fakultas Ilmu Komunikasi Universitas Mercu Buana. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode pendekatan kuantitatif eksplanatif yang melibatkan 76 responden yang dihitung menggunakan rumus Slovin. Teknik penarikan sampel yang digunakan yaitu metode simple random sampling. Data diperoleh melalui kuesioner yang dirancang untuk mengukur pengaruh penggunaan media Wattpad terhadap minat literasi mahasiswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori Uses and Effect, yang menekankan peran aktif pengguna media. Hasilnya menunjukkan penggunaan Media Wattpad memiliki pengaruh signifikan terhadap minat literasi, dengan nilai koefisien determinasi sebesar 71,06% dan hubungan variabel sebesar 0,843 atau 84,3%, selain itu, apabila tingkat penggunaan Media Wattpad mengalami kenaikan maka minat literasi akan bertambah sebesar 0,576. Indikator yang berpengaruh besar yaitu kemudahan penggunaan Fitur Library untuk menyimpan dan mengelola daftar bacaan, serta kemudahan Fitur Pencarian dalam menemukan cerita dan penulis favorit. Keunikan Wattpad terletak pada variasi genre yang luas dan beragam, aksesibilitas bagi penulis pemula, format konten yang interaktif, dan relevansi cerita dengan kehidupan pembaca. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa Wattpad merupakan media yang efektif dan relevan untuk mendukung peningkatan minat literasi mahasiswa. Kata Kunci : Media Wattpad, Minat Literasi, Teori Uses and Effects
