Abstract

This research aims to analyze the influence of Servant Leadership on the Performance of Generation X and Y Catechists which is mediated by Professional Commitment and Competence. The population of this study were all catechists in the Catholic Community Guidance (BIMAS) area of the Special Capital Region of Jakarta, totaling 257 people. The sample size was 152 respondents, divided into 81 GenX catechists and 71 GenY catechists. Testing this research hypothesis uses Structural Equation Model-Partial Least Square analysis. The results of the research prove that servant leadership is able to encourage the increasing performance of GenX and Y catechists, apart from that, professional commitment and competence play a mediating role in the influence of servant leadership on catechist performance.Keywords: Servant Leadership, Professional Commitment, Competency, and Catechist Performance. An interesting finding from this research is that the servant leadership of GenY catechists is able to have a greater influence on performance, competence and professional commitment than GenX catechists. Apart from that, the influence of competence on the performance of GenY catechists is greater than that of GenX catechists. Interestingly GenX catechists only had a greater effect on professional commitment to performance. The serving leadership of GenX catechists on performance mediated by professional commitment has a greater influence, while the serving leadership of GenY catechists on performance mediated by competence has a greater influence compared to GenX catechists. The most dominant dimension reflecting servant leadership in GenX catechists is the call to do good, while in GenY catechists it is organizational settings. Professional commitment, competence and performance between GenX and Y catechists found the same aspects of the dimensions that reflect affective commitment, social competence and work implementation. The implication of this research for GenX catechists is to increase servant leadership and competence, while GenY catechists further increase their professional commitment. The novelty of this research is the first leadersip research model with the Servant variable on Performance mediated by Professional Commitment and Competence at the Archdiocese of Jakarta and the Catholic Community Guidance of Jakarta Province. Key words: Servant Leadership, Professional Commitment, Competence, Performance Catechists Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis pengaruh Kepemimpinan Melayani terhadap Kinerja Katekis Generasi X dan Y yang dimediasi oleh Komitmen Profesional dan Kompetensi. Populasi penelitian ini seluruh katekis yang berada dalam wilayah Bimbingan Masyarakat Katolik (BIMAS) Provinsi Daerah Khusus Ibu Kota Jakarta yang berjumlah 257 orang. Ukuran sampel sebanyak 152 responden, yang terbagi 81 katekis GenX dan 71 katekis GenY. Pengujian hipotesis penelitian ini menggunakan analisis Structural Equation Model-Partial Least Square. Hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa kepemimpinan melayani mampu mendorong semakin meningkatnya kinerja katekis GenX dan Y. Selain itu, melalui komitmen profesional dan kompetensi berperan memediasi pengaruh kepemimpinan melayani terhadap kinerja katekis. Temuan menarik dari penelitian ini adalah kepemimpinan melayani katekis GenY mampu berpengaruh lebih besar terhadap kinerja, kompetensi, dan komitmen profesional dibandingkan katekis GenX. Selain itu, pengaruh kompetensi terhadap kinerja katekis GenY lebih besar dibandingkan katekis GenX. Menariknya katekis GenX hanya berpengaruh lebih besar pada komitmen profesional terhadap kinerja. Kepemimpinan melayani katekis GenX terhadap kinerja yang dimediasi oleh komitmen profesional berpengaruh lebih besar, sedangkan kepemimpinan melayani katekis GenY terhadap kinerja yang dimediasi oleh kompetensi berpengaruh lebih besar di bandingkan dengan Katekis GenX. Dimensi yang paling dominan mereflesikan kepemimpinan melayani pada katekis GenX adalah panggilan berbuat baik, sedangkan pada katekis GenY adalah pengaturan organisasi. Komitmen profesional, kompetensi, dan kinerja antara katekis GenX dan Y ditemukan aspek yang sama dari dimensi yang merefleksikan yaitu komitmen afektif, kompetensi sosial, dan pelaksanaan kerja. Implikasi dari penelitian ini untuk katekis GenX adalah meningkatkan kepemimpinan melayani dan kompetensi, sedangkan katekis GenY lebih meningkatkan komitmen profesionalnya. Kebaruan dari penelitian ini adalah model penelitian Kepemimpinan pertama dengan variabel Servant terhadap Kinerja Katekis GenX dan GenY dengan mediasi Komitmen Profesional dan Kompetensi di Keuskupan Agung Jakarta dan Bimas Katolik-Kementrian Agama Provinsi Jakarta.
