Abstract
Academic procrastination in students occurs in various tasks or jobs ranging from writing, studying in preparation for exams, reading, carrying out administrative tasks and the rest are general lecture activities. The cause is students' poor perception of the tasks they are carrying out, resulting in delays in completing academic obligations. Then the frequency of excessive use of social media or social media addiction in students as a form of escape from tasks that are considered unpleasant. This research uses quantitative methods with the aim of finding out whether task aversiveness and social media addiction influence academic procrastination among students in Jakarta. A total of 375 respondents were selected using sample size table with incidental sampling technique. Data were collected with the help of measuring tools for task aversiveness questionnaire with 17 items, social media addiction questionnaire with 17 items, and questionnaire of procrastination scale-student with 31 items. Testing was carried out using simple and multiple linear regression analysis. The findings of this study explain that partially task aversiveness has an effect on academic procrastination with a magnitude of 36.2%. Then, social media addiction has a partial effect on academic procrastination with a magnitude of 36.4%. And simultaneously there is a significant influence of task aversiveness and social media addiction on academic procrastination among students in Jakarta with an amount of 23.4%. Keyword: Task Aversiveness, Social Media Addiciton, Academic Procrastination Academic procrastination pada mahasiswa terjadi pada berbagai macam tugas atau pekerjaan mulai dari menulis, belajar dalam persiapan ujian, membaca, melakukan tugas administratif dan sisanya adalah aktivitas perkuliahan secara umum. Penyebabnya adalah persepsi buruk mahasiswa pada tugas yang dijalaninya sehingga melakukan penundaan penyelesaian kewajiban akademik. Kemudian frekuensi penggunaan media sosial yang berlebihan atau social media addiction pada mahasiswa sebagai bentuk pelarian dari tugas yang dianggap tidak menyenangkan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah task aversiveness dan social media addiction berpengaruh terhadap academic procrastination pada mahasiswa di Jakarta. Sebanyak 375 responden dipilih menggunakan tabel sample size dengan teknik incidental sampling. Pengumpulan data dengan bantuan alat ukur task aversiveness questionnaire dengan 17 item, social media addiction questionnaire dengan 17 item, dan questionnaire of procrastination scale-student dengan 31 item. Pengujian dilakukan dengan analisa regresi linear sederhana dan berganda. Temuan hasil pada penelitian ini menjelaskan bahwa secara parsial task aversiveness berpengaruh terhadap academic procrastination dengan besaran 36,2%. Kemudian, social media addiction berpengaruh secara parsial terhadap academic procrastination dengan besaran 36,4%. Serta secara simultan terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan task aversiveness dan social media addiction terhadap academic procrastination pada mahasiswa di Jakarta dengan besaran 23,4%.
