Abstract

Media social has become the main means of communication for sharing information, including self-disclosure (self-disclosure). The phenomenon of selfdisclosure and disclosure through the Instagram Close friend story feature has become a platform where many users can express themselves. The purpose of this study is to map and understand the self-disclosure activities of Generation Z in the Instagram Close friend story feature. To support this research, there are five previous studies with relevant topics in the field of communication. The theoretical frameworks employed encompass communication, social media, Instagram, self-disclosure, motives for selfdisclosure, Generation Z, close friend story feature, and phenomenology. The study uses a constructivist paradigm, with qualitative descriptive methods and a phenomenological approach. The subjects of the study are Generation Z individuals who actively use the Instagram Close friend story feature. Data collection is done through in-depth interviews and observations. The results of the study show variations in self-disclosure, ranging from expressing happy, sad, disappointed, to angry emotions. Users feel satisfaction after sharing their stories, which can be expressed as social interaction, relaxation, communication, entertainment, and free expression. In this study, it is explained that self-disclosure involves motives and meanings that are mutually related. As with the meanings and motives behind their self-disclosure, the activities they engage in have become their daily habits. Keywords: Phenomenology, Self disclosure, Instagram Close friend story. Media sosial telah menjadi sarana komunikasi utama untuk berbagi informasi, termasuk pengungkapan diri (self-disclosure). Fenomena keterbukaan dan pengungkapan diri melalui fitur terbaru Instagram, yaitu Instagram Close friend story. Instagram Close friend story telah menjadi platform di mana banyak penggunanya dapat mengekspresikan diri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan dan mengetahui aktivitas pengungkapan diri generasi Z di dalam fitur Instagram close friend story. Untuk mendukung penelitian ini, terdapat lima penelitian terdahulu dengan topik yang relevan dalam bidang komunikasi, dengan itu untuk teori-teori yang digunakan meliputi komunikasi, media sosial, Instagram, self disclosure, motif self disclosure, generasi z, fitur close friend story, dan fenomenologi. Penelitian ini menggunakan paradigma konstruktivistik, metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif dan pendekatan fenomenologi. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari generasi Z yang aktif menggunakan fitur Instagram Close friend story. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara mendalam dan observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan variasi dalam pengungkapan diri, mulai dari menyatakan perasaan senang, sedih, kecewa, hingga marah. Para informan merasakan kepuasan setelah berbagi cerita, di mana kepuasan tersebut dapat berupa interaksi sosial, relaksasi, komunikasi, hiburan, dan kebebasan berekspresi. Dalam penelitian ini dijelaskan bahwa pengungkapan diri melibatkan motif dan makna yang saling terkait. Sesuai dengan makna dan motif di balik pengungkapan diri yang mereka lakukan, aktivitas ini telah menjadi kebiasaan sehari-hari dalam kehidupan mereka.
